My debut album “Off To A Good Start” comes out this Friday. Can’t even tell you how excited I am. So many great features on this project that I’m blessed to have.
The album is titled ”Off to a Good Start”. The idea is that, with this album, I want to show that it is my debut, yet I still feel like a beginner. ”Don’t be afraid — you’re off to a very good start.” My album is about dreams and my own self-image, and what I am willing to do to change it. Although I constantly feel like a rookie, I want to continue daring myself to put myself in uncomfortable situations and gain the courage to be more open.
I also wanted to take a step back and go back to my Bosnian roots. I took a lot of inspiration from my childhood with the ”heklanje” work (crochet hook and yarn). I recorded & sampled string instruments like the Šargija and drew inspiration from the Sevdalinka genre. This album gives me a platform to experiment with genre-breaking forms and rhythms.
