Hamilton police are investigating after two people were shot and killed in Stoney Creek Saturday evening in what investigators are describing as a “landlord-tenant dispute.”
Speaking to reporters Sunday morning, Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk said officers responded to reports of a shooting at 322 Jones Rd., just north of Barton Street at around 5:40 p.m. Saturday.
Bereziuk said officers arriving at the scene found two people fatally shot outside of the two-storey residence, nestled between Barton and Cornell Avenue.

—He told his children he was coming to save them. He never made it. ‘I know they were scared to death’
Trevor McIsaac screamed for his kids.
“We’re here,” they cried from across the hall. Their mother was silent.
“I told them to get down and try to get your mom up; that I was coming to get them,” he said. “I know they were scared to death.”
The two-storey house on Hamilton’s east Mountain was ablaze. The heat was unbearable. Smoke was everywhere.
Trevor McIsaac’s children, their mother and a roommate died during a Hamilton townhouse fire he managed to escape. He tells The Spectator about those final moments and his family’s struggles.

Every weekend, Gore Park transforms into an open-air, one-stop grocer.
There’s your food corner with hot, ready-made meals like rice, beans, potatoes and meat loaf, all packed to go in portable containers; a deli with wrapped sandwiches; produce and dairy sections with fruits and veggies, yogurt and milk; a snack corridor with crackers, cereals, granola bars, Pop Tarts and chocolates; and a miscellaneous aisle with toiletries, dog treats and the like.
Jeffrey Ng and about 100 volunteers spend their weekdays picking up donations and cooking meals ahead of each Saturday afternoon, when they host people in need at the downtown park.
