The conditions were looking great for this night but I had nothing planned, so I was really pleased when I found on @photopills that this boardwalk lines up pretty perfectly with our galaxy’s core at this time of year. Posted @withregram • @george__wade I shot a timelapse back in September at the Brier Island Lighthouse and thought I’d revisit and re-edit it, since we’re here in the dead of winter. This time, instead of stitching the hundreds of frames together back to back to create a video, I stacked them on top of each other and the movement of the stars between frames creates star trails. I love how star trails display the different colours that various stars emit so well. The different colours are actually caused by the different temperatures of the stars, with the hottest being blue and white.

Posted @withregram • @george__wade A few years ago my parents had this moon gate built in their backyard, and ever since then I’ve been contemplating how I wanted to capture it. For this shot I painted in the gate with a light wand over a 2.5 minute exposure, then shot 70 frames of the sky at 3 minutes each for a total of 3.5 hours exposure, then stacked them to get the star trails. If I was ever asked what I thought a time portal would look like, this would be it!
