June 2023. Start to finish of cutting and forming new panels to replace long gone bodywork. I used card to make a pattern of each area, transferred that to 1.2mm steel, then cut it out and used a vice mounted sheet bender to form it ready for welding.

August 2022. Couldn’t resist a few shots of G doing some danger sparks. We measured, remeasured and measured again to get everything aligned, then welded in the replacement arch panels while I butchered and stripped the inner wings and firewall.

August 2022. This about sums up our next discovery. We thought we were well on our way to getting back on the wheels, but as I was stripping back for welding, I discovered the firewall was in a bad way. The guy I took this to a few years back had absolutely lagged every panel in filler, 10-20mm in places, which was hiding many sins.
We decided to strip it all out, cut the rot and make new panels to weld in. We also picked up some inner wing panels from Brookhouse Volvo and went in search of a spot welder…

August 2022. Back in the UK with all the parts ready from Jana’s car, we began the daunting task of repairs and prep before chopping the front end off mine. We’re only replacing the first 120mm or so of the chassis rails, then reinforcing where the bumper mounts, but one wrong cut, and it’s a lot of fabrication to make right. August 2022. Bruges. While we were in Belgium torturing old Volvos, we thought we should visit Bruges. We got a bit carried away with the dangerous Belgian beers, made some friends and then missed our ferry by around 6 hours 🤷🏻♂️
But with a van full of Volvo parts, we headed to Calais, jumped in the sea on the way and managed to get on a ferry home.

Taking a grinder to this old Amazon felt pretty brutal, but it was in a bad way and means I can now get mine on the road. @jakescottdp and @mazonjana talked about the many cars they’ve owned, with a bottle of whiskey between them, while I chopped the front end off the car and stripped off a few other bits.
