The chemistry between @renatereinsve and @halfdant both on set and off is undeniable. The pair became close over the pandemic, during which time they existed in the same ten-person pod, going climbing together and having parties at Renate’s house every weekend.
Now they are attending black tie galas and film premieres together - walking the red carpets arm- in-arm. “It really matters that we’re doing a lot together. We’ve been friends for such a long time and really know each other as friends,” Ullmann Tøndel says. Reinsve agrees, adding, “I feel a lot stronger doing all of these things with Halfdan.”

There’s something going on with @renatereinsve and @halfdant . With one acclaimed, award-winning film in the can and another already in the pipeline, the superstar actor and first-time feature filmmaker are already on their way to being the next significant, culture-shifting film duo to come out of Norway. It’s a poetic distinction, given that Ullmann Tøndel is the grandson of Ingmar Bergman and Liv Ullmann.
“We have a really special chemistry and we kind of thrive on each other’s work and ideas,” says Ullmann Tøndel, noting that the moment they started shooting Armand, he knew this collaboration was something special.
