How do you run 300 miles? By doing it together! This spring, Lupe (@sprobrolupe ) will be representing @atribecalledrun as he takes on The Speed Project Solo (@thespeedproject ). He’ll be responsible for covering every mile from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in this wild ultra-marathon challenge, but he won’t be doing it alone. Firstly, he’ll have his elite crew of Vito (@diggitydah ), Ted (@tedsheppy ), Ashley (@ashleyjoywoods ), and Haldan (@halfdanish ) supporting him all the way through. Secondly, he’s going to have the advice, support, and energy of everyone in A Tribe Called Run, the larger Baltimore running scene, and the TSP network on his side. Lupe started running consistently in Colorado, but it wasn’t until he came to Baltimore that he found a passion for it. That’s thanks to Baltimore’s joyous, enthusiastic, and diverse runners that inspired him to take his running to another level. He’s excited to be representing the Baltimore running scene in this legendary race, and to defy the stereotypes of the region on a public stage. Our team name is “In Bocca al Lupe”, which is a play on the Italian phrase for good luck, “In Bocca al Lupo.” It’s similar to saying “break a leg” in that the literal meaning is a negative, but the intention is to send good fortunes. Literally, the translation of the Italian is “in the mouth of the wolf,” which feels fitting for a 300+ mile ultra-marathon, and is inspired by the wolf-pack mentality of A Tribe Called Run and the Saturday morning long runs. To make this race possible we’re kicking off a GoFundMe page to meet our fundraising goal of $5,000. This money will go towards vehicle rentals, nutrition, gear, and other necessities to help Lupe and the crew. This is the easiest way to support Lupe as he takes on this challenge, but we’ll also be organizing other fundraising events in the coming months. Come say hi and send us off! The next @atribecalledrun Never Miss a Monday run (March 23, 6:30 pm takeoff at R. House) will also be a Send Off Run before we head out west for Lupe’s TSP Solo attempt. We’ll also have the rescheduled Taharka Bros. ice cream pickup afterwards!

Due to the heavy storms forecasted for this evening we’ve decided to move the Taharka Bros. pick up date to next Monday. All orders will be picked up on March 23 at 7:30pm at R.House. We don’t want anyone to take unnecessary risks getting to R.House or losing their power with 8 pints of ice cream in the freezer.

We’ll be running Monument to Monument this Saturday. That’s a solo race or relay from the Washington monument in Baltimore to the Washington monument in D.C.. You’re welcome to join us all the way to DC or just for a few miles before turning back. We just ask that you organize a ride and any other needs beforehand. We’re having another fundraiser with the best damn ice cream in Baltimore! You can put in your order for more @taharkabros ice cream from now till March 13, and pick up at NMAM on March 16. All orders are 8 pints and must be picked up on site. We can’t do deliveries, but you can always ask a friend to hold onto your order if that time doesn’t work for you.

This Wednesday Feb. 25 you can support us, yourself, and a local business by eating at Mera Kitchen Collective! The wonderful people at this Mt. Vernon staple have agreed to donate a percentage of all purchases on that day to Team In Bocca al Lupe. How can you help? Order your lunch, dinner, drinks, or all three from Mera - this includes dine-in and take-out - on Wednesday, February 25! That’s it, it’s that easy! We hate to do this again, but due to Sunday’s snowy forecast we’ve decided to move Lupe’s Big Loop back to Sunday, March 1. We want to make sure everyone feels safe to come out, show their support, and enjoy the day. The last thing we want is for folks to feel pressured to travel or run in unsafe conditions and get hurt.
