Just heard the sad news that former Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne, whom I had the pleasure of working for during the Bush (43) Administration, has passed away. Secretary Kempthorne used to tell the story behind this picture: He arrived in Honolulu for our Conference on Business Opportunities in the Islands. He went to a store and told the shop owner that he needed a great shirt for his keynote speech that night. The shop owner told him she had the perfect shirt for him, a special, “one of a kind” shirt. He loved it, bought it, and wore it to the conference—where he found that I was also wearing a “one of a kind” shirt. Rest in peace, Mr. Secretary. May your memory be a blessing.
