Every corner of The Play Hale was intentionally designed to create a space where keiki can explore, imagine, move their bodies, and build confidence through play. From active play that supports coordination, movement, and sensory development to pretend play that encourages creativity, communication, and social-emotional growth, we believe play is such an important part of childhood. 🤍
More than just a play space, we wanted to create an environment where families can slow down, connect, and feel a sense of community while their little ones learn through play in a safe and welcoming space. Think of it like.... your second home 🥰

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to photograph writer Shay Kauwe (@shaykauwe ) during an evening filled with book signings, audience Q&A, and an illuminating talk story between Shay and Thomas Iannucci (@thomasiannucci ). It was a genuinely thoughtful and inspiring event, and it was wonderful to see so many people gathered to celebrate storytelling, creativity, and local voices.
Growing up on Kauaʻi, being a writer always felt like one of those faraway dreams — something people somewhere else became. Seeing events like this happen regularly at Hale Līhuʻe feels really meaningful, especially for young people and aspiring creatives who may now be able to see themselves reflected in those spaces.
