Weâve got the scoop... itâs official: Hackney Gelato is now a Certified B Corporation. đđŚ
That means weâre part of a global movement of businesses balancing profit with purpose - and proudly meeting high standards of social and environmental impact. Not bad for what started as two chefs and a tiny East London kitchen.
Becoming B Corp Certified isnât just a tick-box job - itâs a deep dive into how you treat people, planet, and purpose. Only businesses scoring in the top 10% across categories like workers, community, environment, governance and customers make the cut. And weâre officially in that club.
Now, back to doing what we do best: making gelato thatâs good in every sense of the word.

Outstanding work @porters.hastings . We salute you.
Welcome to our AI-generated Heartwarming Festive Photo Album. Ideally, weâd have organised a real photo shoot, but for one reason (time) and another (money), we decided to let the robots do the work. Read on for scores and critical commentary.
Â
Photo 1: Amarena Cherry Cheesecake. It looks decent enough at first glance, but thereâs no way two scoops of real gelato are holding their shape in front of a roaring fire like that. And thereâs something unnerving about that spoon. 6/10Â
Â
Photo 2: Tubs On Tree. Nothing embodies the true spirit of Christmas like a branded Christmas tree, and this one looks real enough. The wall, floor and shelves are made of the same material, though, which feels like a bold interior design choice, and makes the photo feel like a budget wooden version of that scene in Inception when the city bends up and over and in on itself. Which was cool. But made us feel queasy. 5/10
Â
Photo 3: Enrico, Sam and Santa. Again, it survives the first glance test. But the real Enrico and Sam are never that happy in each otherâs company. And whatâs with the branding on the tubs? And where is Enriâs left hand? Inside Santaâs glove? Come on, robots, youâre better than this. 4/10
Â
Photo 4: Enrico, Sam and Santa in the Snow. Okay, this makes sense. It was hot inside with that big fire and all the laughing, so everyone came outside for fresh air. Believable enough. But why are the tubs so big? They look like drums. And Enrico and Santaâs hands are at it again, losing independence in a mangled ball of sausagey confusion. Are they shaking on a deal? Have we just locked Santa into an exclusive 5-year influencer contract? Why canât they have their own hands? All in all, unsettling. 3/10.
Â
So there we are. Our first AI-generated Heartwarming Festive Photo Album. Was it heartwarming? No. Will we do it again? Maybe. If you have any photos youâd like to see included in next yearâs album, let us know.
Â
Have a lovely Christmas everyone. Thanks for lending us your eyeballs here on soshal meeeedja, and for buying our tubs in real shops in the real world. We really appreciate it.
Â
See you next year.
On February 30th every year, the World Gelato Scooping Championship takes place at the luxurious Richmond Hill Hotel. Contestants are marked on the quality of their spoonmanship, precision of scoop and aesthetic artistry.
Here you can see last yearâs winner scoring an impressive 9.6 out of 10 by completing a never-before-seen triple twist, tuck & scoop with our very own Rich Chocolate, Lemon & Raspberry sorbettos.
Hackney Gelato have been a proud sponsor of this prestigious fictitious event since 1886, and we look forward to seeing you all at @144onthehill for next yearâs Championship. So please pencil it into your imaginary diary and donât forget your spoons.
Grazie mille to @jenni.helin for capturing the intensity of the event with her expertly timed photograph.
Weâre not sure what King Charlie was thinking the last time he gave out honours, but he forgot to knight or dame the genius at Hache Burger who sandwiched our Rich Chocolate sorbetto in a toasted brioche bun. We donât own a ceremonial sword, but if they ever visit our kitchen, weâll be ready to dub them with a giant spoon.
â¨Grazie mille to @thelondonfoodflirt , who managed to restrain themselves from inhaling this feast just long enough to take this excellent picture.
