What’s that building on Sheep Lane and what’s inside? We popped into the @go.east.vintage flea market at @hackneydepot to find out - luckily for us, Go East Vintage founder Louisa was on hand to show us around and share some of the building’s secrets! Built in 1981, the fully operational TfL bus garage is a much-loved local landmark. While it still serves its main purpose, the space above the depot - originally workplace for facilities for bus drivers, including a cafeteria and toilets - had long fallen into disrepair. After a successful redevelopment project by @6AMDevelopment and @transportforlondon , Hackney Depot is now 2000m² of renovated studio space, connected by a light-filled, open-plan atrium. Once a month, the space is home to Go East Vintage, a ‘complete vintage experience’ with traders selling everything from clothes, furniture, old vinyls, handmade crafts and everything in between. The Go East Vintage market returns to Hackney Depot this weekend, and in May, it will be taking part in the third annual @hackneyhistoryfest Tickets are on sale soon - watch this space! #hackney #hackneyhistory #heritage #community #creatives
