In April 2025, Hackney Circle held its very first Creative Health Showcase at the historic @hoxtonhall 🎭
The event was a joyful celebration of four months of creative workshops, where members took part in dance and drumming sessions designed to support wellbeing and connection.
Dance workshops were led by the brilliant D’Relle West and Aaron Anderson, while @onedrumafrica brought the uplifting rhythms of West African drumming to life with their Djembe workshops. 🪘
We were also delighted to welcome a special performance from Pembury Dance group, another local community group supported by @sadlerswells_east 💃
Our Creative Health Commissions, funded by @aceagrams , are all about exploring the powerful link between creativity and health. Together with our partners, we’re demonstrating how participation in the arts can support long-term physical and mental wellbeing.

The historic Rio cinema has an incredible offer to view their current film “Sunset Boulevard” for just £2.50!
Enjoy a tea or coffee before or after the film and have a chat with other viewers and the wonderful Rio cinema staff. This March, Rio presents Sunset Boulevard - Billy Wilder’s darkly glamorous Hollywood noir masterpiece. Gloria Swanson delivers an unforgettable performance as Norma Desmond, a former silent-film star clinging to dreams of past fame as the industry moves on without her. Stylish, unsettling and razor-sharp, Sunset Boulevard explores ageing, ambition and the brutal treatment of women in the film industry, remaining relevant as ever and just as haunting today as it was on release.
