Hackney Anarchists present HACKY Anarchists; a digital utopia for our moribund times.
When the pirate cries 'Aarghh me hearties' is this a cry for help or a call to arms? Many digital utopians fled the complexities of the world for the hope of better possibilities in the last century. These early sailors charted whole new possibilities for play, communication, experimentation and politics on servers and online. Did they expect, could they have imagined, the online and the digital as the capitalists moved in?
What are the capacities for revolution and revolt, secrecy and sedition in this current world? Which elements of this construct have the modern anarchists, born into the digital, found to hide and proliferate in? What of the millenials with a foot in both worlds doggedly sticking to pirate bay in a world of streaming giants. What of the architecture the anarchists have created and sustained in the last 30 years for our movements round the world, where sharing solidarity is as easy and meaningful as the click of a button? What of the freaks, fighting against the totalised state and the totalised digital construct at the same time?
Another world is possible! But it might require different tech!

Hackney Anarchists are back conquering bread 🍞
Every second Sunday of the month find us at the centre of Hackney downs cooking together, sharing food and discussing politics.
Our food is free to share with whomever might need it or want it. Everyone is welcome, no questions asked.
We are hoping to share food and its preparation with those who want to join. Come at 11 to help us prep and cook. This is also a joyful way to have political conversations and develop mutual aid tools.
This is a shared process and everyone can get involved however they want. We also welcome ingredients, leads for food sourcing, recipe suggestions (vegan), or just your company.
🍲 Abolish the bourgeoise butter bean! We feed ourselves 🏴
We write from a city where the wager for survival is getting crushed by the cogs of productivity, forced into a state of alienation where we only exist as consumers. Where every one of our desires seems to be crafted for us, controllable and monetizable. Where hanging out with friends and doing what you love has a price, a price you can afford to pay only after rent, food, bills and transport. Where our currency is the time we take away from our lives to work, only to be able to live a little. Either that, or being cast out, broke, in a place that feels more and more oppressive, with increasingly less space between its cracks.
We want to reclaim our power to opt out from all this. We want to be cancerous urban cells morphing, growing and evolving in opposition to the organism that's hosting us, in a disordered and autonomous way. We want to exist not only in physical proximity to others, but in active community with those around us, in our buildings, in our neighbourhoods. We want to hang out in person, instead of confining all our "free time" online, where an algorithm can shape what we see and how we interact with each other. We want to spent time without producing, we want to hang out without the pressure to be, look or behave a certain way. We want to do nothing and just be sexy, or anti-sexy if we prefer!
We want to explore ways of doing this. Squats, skate parks, underpasses, the rage in the street during a protest, community gardens, just being with our neighbours, unplanned hangouts. We want to meet and separate without anything to do, and without anything to pay for.
This zine will collect writings on autonomous spaces and their power. The power to make time and make space to dilate the cracks in the capitalist urban tissue, to exist only for ourselves and for our communities. Unproductive and ungovernable.
We look forward to receiving your submissions by the 10th of May 🏴
On the 19th of April, we will be meeting again to swap books.
Bring your favourite books or those that you cannot stand to look at one second more! It could be fiction or non fiction. Alternatively, just bring yourself and drinks and snacks!
As part of the event, we will hold a discussion on our next zine, titled Squats, Skate Parks and Underpasses. Come chat about what the topic means to you, how to submit and next steps.
Meet us at the LARC, E1 1ES, 2-6pm!
We stand in solidarity with Rojava!
Rojava is beset by fascist theocratic invasions on every corner. Under constant attack by regional powers with multimillion dollar technological arsenals. Under threat of territorial incursion, massacres & genocide. Every day is an existential fight to protect what has been earned with years of struggle. Despite this, Rojava's light shines ever so bright, as a powerful living example of an internationalist women-led social revolution in practice, as an unceasing inspiration and reminder to anarchists across the world that another world is possible. That is what Rojava means to us.
We cannot and Rojava cannot rely on treacherous states for support, look at the orange man in the White House, or at David Lammy in Tottenham withdrawing all support for the KCC once he moved into government. The scene in Hackney and London relies on our Kurdish comrades and it is time for us to extend our solidarity in return.
On Friday 10th of April, we will be at the Royal Sovereign to raise vital funds for the humanitarian support needed by our comrades in Rojava. Solidarity is not a moment it’s a muscle. Keep exercising it!

They tried to bury you, but they didn't know you were a seed.
On December 31st we will be gathering outside HMP Pentonville to play our small part in the anarchist tradition of reminding our comrades within each and every prison cell that they are not forgotten, they are not alone, and they will not be left behind in the hands of the state.
Now, more than ever, the threat of imprisonment looms over every action we take. A pathetic and complicit state flails wildly in its throes of dedication to business-as-usual in the face of the Gazan genocide, attempting to smother even the most minor act of insurrection. When faced with this, open and loud solidarity towards those incarcerated must come to the forefront of our political actions.
The importance of this solidarity is brought into focus by the current carceral climate – one of indefinite detention without trial, such as that doled out to the Filton24, and one of deep suffering, such as that experienced by those continuing to fight with the only thing left to them from within the prison walls - their bodies.
They are: Amu Gib, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, Kamran Ahmed, Lewie Chiaramello, Muhammad Umer Khalid, Teuta Hoxha, and Qesser Zuhrah.
So come join us at HMP Pentonville. Let Kamran hear you. Let all prisoners hear your support shuddering through the prison walls.

Racism is off the charts. Fascist protests are now taking place weekly, if not daily, in our communities with the intention to threaten, harass or intimidate us.
St. George’s flags are being used as symbols of territorial control by the far right, deliberately concentrated in areas where asylum seekers are housed. Meanwhile, flag shagger in chief Keir Starmer refuses to act. History shows us that only we can drive back the fascists and ensure our safety.
On 13th September Tommy Robinson, alongside racist rioters from across Britain and abroad, and other far right leaders, plan to gather for what they are calling “the largest free speech rally the world has ever seen”. We will not stand by or look away. Join us in making our message loud and clear: racists and bigots will never be welcome in London.

TRANS PRIDE: The Telegraph on Sunday used our 'provocative' banner as the headline photo for their usual TERF rot. How exciting! We repeat: ARM TRANS PEOPLE. Fuck TERFs. When the state says DIE, we say DIY. HA explicitly stands with trans people and always will.
