Today on International Women’s Day (IWD), we join our voices to celebrate the good and speak out against the unjust.
This year’s theme for IWD is #EmbraceEquity.
It’s important to note that equity and equality are not the same. Equity seeks to change the societal systems that actively disadvantage and marginalize groups. It is about being fair and impartial regardless of gender and background.
If there ever was a time to stand strong, elevate women’s voices and #EmbraceEquity, now is that time!
We believe in a gender-equal world, free of bias and discrimination, where we can celebrate our differences and where all individuals are valued.
How to promote #Equity:
1. Educate: on what equity is. Why equity is important and how to embrace and implemented in the learning and work spaces
2. Introduce girls in to STEAM early, equip and empower them with digital skills and resources
3. Provide access to digital resources
4. Prioritize equitable representation in the workspace.
This series is designed specifically for women who are interested in both technology and entrepreneurship. Still on our mission to building a generation of #GirlsWhoCode. Over the last two weeks we’ve been running the Hacklab Junior Summer Robotics Camp with 21 kids between the ages of 7-15yrs.
It’s exciting to see them move from no knowledge in coding and robotics to working on their cool projects in groups.
The mission is still on.

“Gender equality and economic empowerment for women and girls, is also a catalyst for achieving the other sustainable development goals.”
- @awintiti
The world has a decade left to turn this promise into action. The past decades have seen important progress for women and girls. However, change has been uneven though incremental.
Change is coming at a pace that is too slow for the women and girls whose lives depend on it.
Our mandate as an initiative of the Hacklab Foundation is to impact over 400,000 women in Africa by 2030.
We entreat you to join us achieve this feat.
#HacklabWomen
Empowering women, building capacities and bridging the equity and equality gap in the areas of “STEAM” is our focus.
We are the #HacklabWomen, an initiative of the Hacklab Foundation (@hacklabfdn ).
