Millie,
I’ve been dreading this moment, but I truly believed we had many more years with you. Just 10 days after Hailey passed away, you too left us, in the early hours of April 6th.
You were never meant to be ours, which made the 10 incredible, life-changing years we had with you an even greater gift.
You were supposed to go to Lauren’s mom and sister—but it wasn’t the right fit. So you came home with us, and we built our lives around you and your sisters, Rose and Hailey, and now your brother Ben… and likely more in the future.
You fooled us in the best way. We thought you were spayed—you weren’t. We thought you’d be an easy angel—you came with a past. But that past only made us love you more. Over time, we learned your fears, and you learned to trust us—to feel safe, loved, and very well fed but always in search of more food.
We may never know for sure, but we believe you came from a hard beginning—likely a puppy mill, fighting for your food and then hunting the cold wet streets for scraps and shelter… And yet, you survived. You held on long enough to be found, to make it to Animal Haven, and to find your way home to us.
From the moment we met you—when you were still called Ganache(2nd and 3rd slides) we knew you were special. Even when you bit me for getting a leaf off your snout. And even again when you “fought” your water bowl in the hotel room (4th slide) we saw it: your spirit, your resilience, your heart.
We took you everywhere. You traveled well, slept deeply, and were cared for with so much love. You had everything you needed—and you gave us everything in return.
Twelve years is a long, beautiful life for a rescue—but it still isn’t enough. We saw you slowing down, especially after Hailey. And while your passing was sudden for us, maybe it was a kindness for you—you held onto your joy right to the end.
Now our three girls are together again.
You changed our lives. The love you gave us will carry forward into every life we touch.
We love you, and we miss you, but you’ll also be with us forever.
Millie
2014–2026- ♾️
Hailey,
You were 14 years old when we fell in love with you and you gave us 5 wonderful, unforgettable years.
What’s amazing is that you lived to almost 20, and were born in 2006, the same year we independently had just started city life and so much of our lives grew in parallel on opposite coasts. You in Los Angeles and us in New York.
In May 2021 your family had given you up and you had just received medical treatment to remove some of your teeth and alter your hearing, and we had just moved into our home in Massachusetts, so we were all in uncharted territory and I like to think we were there for each other during times of change and grew together.
When we picked you up in LA we knew you’d be the perfect addition to the family. Your two new sisters, Millie and Rose, never worried about your status in the group, you were always happy to let them co-alpha the family. And when Ben came along you welcomed him in too, even though you were blind and deaf by then and he bumped into you, you never complained.
We’re sorry for making you move from sunny California to snowy Massachusetts but our summers are way better here, and you actually handled winters very well…Perhaps even thrived. You owned blizzards like a true New Englander. Maybe it’s the English cocker in you.
You loved the adventures we’d all go on together. Loved hiking, long drives, beach walks, cruising the park. You did not like cities, however, so I think the timing was just right for us to all join as a family. Also, because we spend so much time at home, we spent more time with you in 5 years than many pet parents can in a lifetime.
You were blind and deaf for over a year but gave us every ounce of yourself until the very end, loved food, were curious, and such a good girl. You’re an inspiration. Ben and Millie miss you very much already. Give Rose a big heavenly smooch for us ok?
We will love you forever Hailey Bailey.

“It takes a village”, said the Bryan brothers from the podium. It’s a well known phrase but an important one. Tennis seems from the outside like an individual sport, but to truly excel, the players on the court rely heavily on their team along the sidelines.
During the International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Newport, the day before the start of the US Open in New York City, the celebration of the accomplishments of Maria Sharapova, Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan ultimately taught us that behind each of these players was an entire structure of off court support that allowed them to dream and accomplish the most unlikely success stories. The inductees, while accepting their trophies, wasted no time before thanking their families, coaches, friends, managers, event organizers, and often even the sport itself.
Tennis might just be a game, but when so many people come together and dedicate their lives to something, it becomes something momentous.
Thank you to all of the athletes, sponsors, donors, organizers, vendors, individuals and absolutely the sport of tennis. It was an amazing weekend and I look forward to attending again next year. More on that later.
Also, special thanks to those that made this fashionable weekend possible for me personally.

The Red Lion Inn and the Norman Rockwell Museum never disappoint. It was almost a month ago now but I’m already looking forward to heading back the same time next year.
We hosted some family and brought some more friends but let’s keep this lovely June weekend in the Berkshires growing!
