Yolanda had visions of us having the falls all to ourselves for my birthday. Strong manifestion for a perfectly sunny 26c Easter Sunday. Couldn’t believe my luck when this empty oasis came into view. One of many idyllic dips and a few other nice moments pictured here 💙🌈
This time last year I had the pleasure of visiting my mumma’s barangay in Aklan. Welcomed by my facebook profile picture from circa 2018 in the village centre lol.
My tita had pinched the portrait session off someone’s wall 30years ago, it has survived many a monsoons.
We followed the leader to the mermaid pools being invited into every home passed for lunch. It would have taken the week to take every offer up.
Then there was the fiesta. A bush dance, where I most definitely lost a few decibels of my hearing.
I reflect back on this time with thoughts of Julia Jacklins lyric
“Don’t let the time go by
Without sitting your mother down
And asking what life was like for her
Before you came to be around”
I was lucky enough for her to show me.
It was humble, grounding. Something I will never forget. I now have a greater understanding of how my mum grew up.
How very special is that 💌
Documented a Fleay’s barred frog love puddle, Christmas orchids and all the fungi I could find. Got stung by Gympie Gympie documenting said fungi. Ice cold dips numbed the pain & warmed my heart. Abc classic happy hours in polarity with mornings of living silence. Fistfuls of gold at the end of the rainbow. I just love camping and all the good things that come with it ⛺️
