Garret - we miss you so much. We felt your spirit yesterday as the hoots and hollers echoed through the bike park, your stoke smile while we passed through the love tunnel and your contagious vibes as we raced bikes, wore funny shirts/hats/wigs, ate hot dogs made on a kei truck and partied in the parking lot. WOW! Our hearts are bursting after one of the most heartfeltand powerful community events of all time- the Full Send Fundraiser for @garretvs and @kirsten.v.s . The entire night was an endless sea of smiles, hugs and tears of gratitude. It is difficult to put into words how grateful we are this incredible community who showed up, brought their A-game and helped us raise $54,500 in one night!!!!! Garret has found a promising clinical trial on the East Coast that he and Kirsten will be traveling to weekly and monthly over the next year and beyond until his cancer is contained. For those of you who are new to this cause... Why are we raising money for @garretvs ???? Because he is fighting tooth and nail to combat stage 4 cancer and we want to do everything under the moon to help him achieve this. Here are some powerful words from Garret after one of his many CT Scans: "If there’s one thing that this disease brings front and center, it’s the fragility and simultaneous beauty of life. Go be young and reckless. Do that thing you never imagined yourself doing. Fucking get after it. Take risks, put yourself out there, savor the moment, live. You cannot know how beautiful it is until you are faced with losing it. For me, life and death are constant background music, playing in my head everyday as a reminder to make it all worth it. A blessing and a curse. One thing is certain though: I will never, ever, give in. I have more work to do. Eyes up, stout heart, always forward, never back." If you have had the pleasure of meeting Garret, I can assure you, he has yet to give in to his cancer. Amidst 8 surgeries and multiple rounds of chemo and radiation, he has climbed countless alpine summits, learned how to paraglide, skied more powder than most people reading this, traveled the world and opened up an incredible business @laconiamarket with his friend and wife.
