THE IMPACT: 15% of the entire day’s proceeds will go directly toward GVLT’s mission to build connected trails and protect open spaces.
🌾A CONNECTION TO THE LANDSCAPE
Did you know that Wild Rye was founded on the idea of crafting a Montana bourbon using sweet corn grown on their multi-generational family farm in Southwest Montana? It's more than just a cocktail - it's a celebration of the agricultural roots we work to protect.
See you there!
🏔 Leave the trail better than you found it.
What will your Montana legacy be? For those who want their impact to last beyond a lifetime, planned giving is the most thoughtful and enduring way to leave your mark on this region.
TODAY, YOUR GIFT HAS AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT
A former GVLT Board member has issued a generous challenge: For every new letter of intention documented, an immediate $2,500 gift will be unlocked (up to $50,000)!
By documenting your legacy gift today, you aren't just planning for tomorrow—you’re putting $2,500 to work right now for the trails and open spaces we love.

Taking the long view! 🗻
GVLT staff and Board members recently gathered in Paradise Valley to kick off our next strategic planning process. Thank you to West Creek Ranch for hosting us in this inspiring setting that provided the perfect backdrop for big-picture thinking.
The highlights:
✅Crushing Goals: We reviewed our current 5-year plan (ending June 2027) and—spoiler alert—our Lands, Stewardship, Trails, Development, and Ops teams are knocking it out of the park!
💡Big Brainstorming: Guided by @klumconsulting , we started outlining the next five years.
✨The Verdict: Our team is more ambitious than ever.
📖Curious about where we are now? See link in bio to check out our current plan.
A huge thank you to local nature enthusiast Joslin Fields for creating this captivating poster! 🎨
As our trails start to pop with color, remember: Flowers are food. When we pick them, we’re taking a meal away from our local pollinators and preventing the plant from seeding for next year.
Let's lead by example. Enjoy the view, snap a selfie, and leave the petals for the bees! 🦋
Do your duty and scoop the poop! 🐾
We would like to give a huge thank you🙏 to the 38 fabulous community members who participated in this year's Bozeman Dog Poop Cleanup!
Volunteers worked on Drinking Horse, Sourdough Canyon, Peets Hill, Snowfill, and the Gallagator - picking up 35 buckets of dog waste and raising awareness by staking pin flags wherever a pile was collected.
Not feeling the look of these pin flags? Dog waste is more than an eyesore. It can lead to infections and respiratory issues in animals and humans, carries harmful bacteria (like E. Coli and Salmonella) into our watersheds, and harms native vegetation by contributing to weed growth.
All flags will be removed by June 5th, while dog waste has a lasting impact.

Huge props to this amazing crew from the Montana chapter of @womeninultrarunning who recently spent the day crushing their miles and picking up trash along Hyalite Road. They truly embody what it means to RUN KIND. 🏃♀️
So, how do you #runkind?
🤝 Share the trails.
🏔️ Stay aware of other users and conditions.
👣 Run single file to prevent erosion.
🚮 Add a trash pickup? AMAZING! ⭐
We’re so grateful for this crew spreading the RUN KIND ethic far and wide!
Get outside, enjoy your trails, and remember to be #outsidekind!

Mats, matcha, and giving back!
Join us May 16 for a 45-minute Pulse class with Ellie + a post-class Zephyr Matcha from @thelittlepinkcoffeetrailer.bzn . Tickets are $22 and include a donation to Gallatin Valley Land Trust. Let’s sweat for a cause.
We love our dogs and we love our trails! 🐕 Let’s give both a little springtime TLC. 🌿
Dog waste is one of the sneakiest sources of bacteria and nitrogen in local watersheds, and spring is prime time to do something about it. 🐾 Dog waste has different microbes and nutrients than wildlife waste, and doesn’t break down quickly during our dry summers. Whatever was hiding under the snow is probably still out there! 💩
This Thursday (May 7th), from 4-6 p.m., GWC, the Gallatin Valley Land Trust and Outside Kind are teaming up for our Annual Dog Poop Cleanup to get our beloved community trails ready for summer.
Sign up at the link in bio to reserve a slot! We will send you the details. 🥾We still need more volunteers at the Galligator Trail!
If you’re scooping on your own time, we recommend Sypes Canyon, Tuckerman Park, Painted Hills, Mount Ellis, Bozeman Pond/Dog Park, or Highland Glen. Help us protect the watershed from harmful bacteria and excess nitrogen!
Alternative date if it rains: Thursday, May 14, 4-6 p.m.
We're already getting excited for our 11th Annual Summer Trails Challenge 🎉 this June, but the clock is ticking to become a sponsor! ⏰
Are you ready to hit the trails and have some fun with your crew? As a Summer Trails Challenge sponsor, you can create a company team to compete along the way.
Don’t miss out—the deadline to sign up as a sponsor is TOMORROW, May 5!

Our hearts ♥ are full! A sincere thank you 🙏 to everyone who supported GVLT during Give Big 2026. Every donor – no matter the size of your gift - made a tangible impact on the future of our trails and open spaces. 🏔️
Because this community and our GVLT family show up like no other, we didn't just meet our Trailblazing Challenge goal of 500 donors—we flew past it! 🏃♂️By hitting that milestone, you unlocked an additional $25,000 from our generous Trailblazing Champions: Dayle Hayes, Katy Hood, Dan and Shā Simon, Rick and Lauri Taylor, and an anonymous donor.
The gorgeous spring day was the perfect backdrop for our celebration atop Peets Hill. It was wonderful to connect with every person and pup 🐾 who joined us in our "Living Room." It was also an honor to celebrate alongside a few of our fellow nonprofits. We are better together! 🤝
As always, we are humbled and grateful for your shared commitment to building connected trails and protecting working farms and ranches, wildlife habitat, and scenic views for today, tomorrow, and forever!💚🥾
