Last week, on Monday, Nov 10, 2025, Sean McCarthy took Amy and me to Seven Year Island on the Suwanee River. This island can only be seen on average about every 7 years, when the water level in the Suwannee River is very low. There were several bathtub-sized limestone holes in the island filled with rainwater or leftover river water. We decided to try illuminating these limestone tubs like I do with springs and sinks. Amy and I set up the cameras and put them on automatic to take 30-second exposures continuously. While the cameras were running, I used a 4500 lumen dive light to light-paint the water in the tubs and some of the island itself. I stacked each camera's shots into layers in Photoshop and merged the best parts of each photo into one single photo per camera. Yesterday (11/12/2025), Tracy Niesent, Sean McCarthy, and I had the opportunity to check out a private sinkhole. There was an old, rickety, rotting wooden ladder to the water, which we didn't trust. I lowered a rope over the edge so Tracy could go down and check the sink for a possible cave. She put on her full cave gear, except for her tanks, to swim around the edges and check for cave openings.
