What was old is new again. Scratches, chips, water rings, and Campari stains of the past are sanded away! Each set of 2 slats got 24 sanding passes with 60, 120, 220, & 320 grit papers, and 4 coats of Varathane satin with a 0000 steel wool sanding between each coat.
The table had yellowed so much that the leaf didn’t match. They are now as one. Holly is happy. I am sore, but satisfied that I finally got this off the honey-do list.
Gorgeous day in Seattle, perfect for relaxing at a terrace all day drinking wine and eating cheese, but I spent it sanding chipped varnish off our worn out dining room table.

This last couple of weeks, I prioritized adapting my airship into a retro-style free-standing rocket. Of course, I had to completely redesign the ribs to minimize material use and waste, which means a whole new assembly process.
Designing in 3D is great, but it isn’t the real world. Prototyping in cardboard is inexpensive and gives me the chance to find mistakes, revisions and other fixes without wasting a sheet of plywood.
Met me old pal Paul at Loretta’s in South Park for a drink and supper. I opted for the breaded pork loin sandwich. Next time I’m gonna see if they’ll put a couple of slices of American cheese on it for me. Good times indeed!
