Yesterday evening I swam the final leg of MileADayInMay, my 155th mile. Over the years we have raised a huge amount of money for Cancer Research helping to fund amazing charities like @cr_uk @irishcancersociety @cancertrialsirl The Trinity College St James Hospital Cancer Institute and some pioneering oncologists! Thanks to @roryfitzirl for the dropping me out to the middle of Killiney Bay and to everyone who came down for the finish, it was absolutely magic to land on Killiney Beach! Big thanks to @fbmotion for the incredible support, you sir, are unreal!

Yesterday evening I swam the final leg of MileADayInMay, my 155th mile. A BALTIC mile across Killiney Bay this evening with @neil_obrien100 Funky currents and shifty breeze, this was a tough one, very happy to get back to shore! I’ll be finishing my 31st mile at 6.30pm tomorrow in front of Killiney Beach Car Park (see photos). Any and all supporters very welcome! This will be my 155th mile of MileADayInMay. 5 years clear of stage 4 cancer, my final mile, time to put this to bed.

Breezy… It was a mile of two halves this evening, an easy trip down to the West Pier from Seapoint to kick things off followed by a heinous up-wind battle to make it home. Fair dues @markhamnolan @tomajlyons @lynners and Tooler, we put in a very decent shift out there! Key role from @sbowers111 on paddle rescue, steering us through the mile, no joke paddling into wind & waves! 29 miles down, 2 to go!! I’ll be finishing on Killiney Beach on Friday at 6.30pm. All support v welcome!

I wise man took me aside on Sunday and told me that all my MileADayInMay miles to-date were equal to the distance from Dun Laoghaire to Lahinch! So I got up this morning and headed west for a mile off Spanish Point in howling winds and choppy seas! @fbmotion and @oleary114 steered me through the waves and jelly fish for an epic mile! You really know you’re in The Atlantic Ocean vs. The Irish Sea… @nickyclrk and his merry men took on the mile in Lake Geneva today, fair dues lads!! I’ll be finishing my last mile on Killiney Beach at 6.15pm on Friday, all supporters very welcome!!

Jelly fish, seals, wind, waves, tidal eddies… Killiney Bay threw the kitchen sink at us for this evening’s mile! Well done @burnsar @brianstoran @neil_obrien100 and @mstorno for taking on an absolute brut of a mile from Coliemore Harbour around to Whiterock with @roryfitzirl and @ross.con on paddle rescue… + miles from @crothera in Auckland and @fintangillespie in Florida - great work lads!

Sunrise mile this morning around K-Bay and into Coliemore Harbour with @brianstoran keeping me safe all the way. This was my 150th mile for Cancer Research! Decent whack of tide and chop out there… Good craic with the early morning mackerel fishermen going down Dalkey Sound, they are a dedicated bunch!

Rough mile from Whiterock Beach around to Coliemore Harbour this morning, we got hit by choppy waves, current and wind. Fair dues lads @stuart_cullen , Cill and Denny that was a vicious passage. Great work @siredden and @roryfitzirl on rescue steering us through! + big mile from the living legend @asliceofjd on the lake in Alberta Canada, thanks JD! Magic day out there - my 150th mile for Cancer Research tomorrow morning.

My annual mile with @jpsdinners is a complete inspiration, he shows, up raring to go and grinds out the distance in true JP fashion. We swam down the K-Bay coast with @jamiecrawford11 this evening finishing on Whiterock Beach. Great stuff lads! @poppy_goes_east and I had cancer at about the same time, pretty cool that we swam our fifth year of miles together today (him in Connemara). Sweet Johnny! @brianstoran aka ‘MileADayInMay’s Geldof’ led a group including @rogmcgrath and @johnoreganmusic in Galway, looks beaut!

We’d have had a good shot at the MileADayInMay record if we hadent stopped for ‘the chats’! Think we’ll go again next week! First porpoise sighting of the month, lovely to have them around!

One-in-two of us will get cancer during our lives. Our backing of the Trinity St James Cancer Institute helps the mission to give cancer patients a shot at survival… even in later stage cases…
