‘Soo’ is a short documentary that traces the life of 100-year-old grandfather, Colin Soo, as he revisits the places in Sydney that shaped his identity. This intimate portrait offers a meditation on heritage, generational bonds, and the fleeting beauty of life and death within the Cantonese-Australian diaspora. ‘Susan, I’m Disappearing’ An elderly woman quietly reckons with her unspoken bond to a place that holds her past. Set and created in Chinatown, Sydney. It really does take a village! Feeling beyond proud to finally share some moments from a project poured into by so many, which also marks the end of our time at @aftrs . We are super excited to announce that our film ‘Chinatown’s Last Emperor’ had its world premiere at Doc. Sydney Documentary Film Festival and came away with Best Australian Documentary Film! We are also grateful to have received the Tarkovsky Grant which will sponsor us to submit it to more film festivals internationally. Thank you Doc. Grateful to feel small in the ⛰️

‘Static’ (2024) A short, surreal narrative project shot at the start of the year. With a minuscule crew, we sent it down to Wagga Wagga for an intensive 2 days filled with sunburns and little to no sleep. Regardless, these sorts of shoots seem to produce such pure and proud results.
