Spring 2026 was such a great semester for experiential site visits at GU Politics. Follow along here with Spring 2026 Visiting Fellow Mehdi Hasan's student strategy team as they accompanied him to a taping of his show for @zeteo in February. Thank you to everyone who hosted our students!
Hey Hoyas! The semester may be wrapping up, but we aren't done with programming yet. On Monday, May 18, GU Politics is teaming up with FOX 5 DC to host a televised D.C. Democratic Mayoral Debate.
We want to hear from you! Georgetown students may submit questions to the candidates through the form at the link in our bio. Please note that submission of a question does not guarantee your question will be selected. Selected questions will be read live at the debate by a moderator.
An incredible semester with our Spring 2026 Fellows has come to an end! Thank you for sharing your time, expertise, and mentorship with students and filling the Living Room with lively discussions — and surprise guests!— all semester.
Mehdi, Stephen, Julia, Monica, Senator Tester, and Richard brought their expertise, nuanced discussion topics, and clarity over confusing political moments to the Hilltop and Capitol Campuses and provided valuable opportunities for Hoyas to learn and explore beyond campus. We want to say a huge thank you to them for making this semester so special.
To our Spring 2026 Student Strategy Team members — thank you for all the support you offered our fellows this semester. It is your engagement that makes this program happen. We look forward to seeing you back in the living room next fall!
To our Spring 2026 Fellows — we are so thankful for the time, leadership, and insight you shared this semester. As always, we’ll miss seeing this class of Fellows on the Hilltop, but know that you are forever members of the GU Politics community. 💙

At age 34, Erika Uyterhoeven ran for and won a seat in the Massachusetts state legislature in 2020. A three-term legislator, she’s currently the only DSA-endorsed state legislator in the state, the youngest state rep in Massachusetts, and a longtime advocate for government transparency. On Monday, she came to McCourt to speak with Georgetown students about running for public office at a young age and how state government actually works. Thank you so much for joining us!
Yesterday, students at the Capitol Campus heard from former Director of Public Policy at Facebook and Fall 2022 GU Politics Fellow Katie Harbath, former Head of Policy at Nuro and current Partner at Catalyst Wayfare Matthew Lipka, and Head of Enforcement and Operations at Anthropic Colleen Reding Mearn. They discussed careers in tech policy and how tech is shaping public policy in today's world. Thank you all for joining us!
We're still thinking about what a success our 9th annual Women in Politics & Public Service Networking Event was! Thank you to everyone who came out and made it possible!
Last night, Spring 2026 GU Politics Fellow and former U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) moderated a conversation on democracy and the future of the Democratic Party with Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Tina Smith (D-MN). Thank you all for joining us!
A huge thank you to Spring 2026 Fellow Richard Walters for taking a group of Georgetown students to the White House! GU Politics pulls back the curtain on Washington and gives students behind-the-scenes access to top practitioners to help students build their own career paths in politics and public service.
Earlier this week, Spring 2026 GU Politics Fellow Stephen Martinko, who is Global Head of Product Public Policy at TikTok, brought a group of Georgetown students to TikTok's Transparency and Accountability Center in Washington.
