So this song is probably one of my oldest. I finished writing it when I was 20 and it has been part of every show I've ever done. It has always been my go-to when trying to “impress” a friend in the room.
I'm very proud of it and all its weirdness. Till this day I'm not quite sure what's going on (theoretically) in the chorus for example.
People around me always had vivid responses to this song.. I have this memory of my friend Itamar asking me ”did you actually write this?” after I finished playing it for him one day. It made me feel like an actual composer which is funny to admit.
Lyrically it speaks on some dream sequence, which is something I do often with my songs. Later in life I caught on to messaging regarding my father who passed when I was little. Conversations I had with him (internally obviously) would usually travel from the physical to the emotional. And as such, in this song I observe objects he left behind and weave them into the song. For example he had this brass hourglass in his office which somehow found its way into my possession.
I also found that a similar thing happened with another object in a different song from the project, but we'll leave that for another day.
In any case, I hope to see these conversations with my father evolve in my music going forward.
Production for this song was a pleasure with Uri who's an amazing friend and teacher for me. This is our third song together and I have so much to say about this man but alas, Instagram only allows like 900 words or smth.
We layered many guitars on here which is something I'm practically built on.
The great Matan hosted us in his studio and laid some beautiful drums for us while engineering the session with Uri.
We also have Yoav on the track, who plays with me live and is a wonderful friend. He blessed us with the synth solo + some add. keys.
The master was done by the great Roncho.
The mix and the art for this here post was done by Uri who's a BIG graphic designer among his many talents.
And yeah that's pretty much it.
A HUGE thank you to anyone who listens.
