With mass immigrant detention rising across the United States, 45% of people who are detained have no attorney to advise them of their rights. Guerrilla FC (@guerrilla_fc ) and the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights (@amica.center ) have announced their Monarch Collection🦋, an immigrant-inspired sports apparel capsule rooted in football’s global history of movement, migration, and belonging. Like monarch butterflies, which migrate thousands of miles across generations, many immigrant journeys are guided by resilience, memory, and the instinct to find home. Proceeds from this capsule will go to Amica Center, which provides unwavering legal defense and strategic litigation for immigrant children and adults facing detention or deportation. Head over to @guerrilla_fc for more information about how to purchase and how to attend the launch event on 05/16!📌 #immigrantrights #immigration #usa #dc #dmv

Introducing The Monarch Collection, a capsule inspired by movement. The kind that exists in every part of the game and across generations of people carrying it with them wherever they land. Inspired by monarch butterfly migration and immigrant stories tied to survival, adaptation, and the search for home, the collection reflects the realities behind how culture actually moves. At a time when immigrants are being attacked, separated, and detained at an alarming rate, the stories we are telling with this collection are ones of courage and strength. The capsule features layered chitinous butterfly textures, wings in motion, redaction details used as protection when required, and graphics built around themes of transformation, migration, and resilience. Created in collaboration with @amica.center , proceeds fund Amica Center's efforts to provide representation for immigrant children and adults facing detention or deportation. Football has always traveled with people. This collection is for the communities still carrying it forward. Available for pre-order now. “Migration is sacrifice rooted in love.” In a world of uncertainty, most people are in search of similar things–belonging, structure, and identity. Whether it be through family or through football, at the end of the day, the goal is to give and make it back to the ones we love. Detention causes mental and physical harm that has major psychological impacts. We got to know a son, brother, and provider who found belonging and identity through football in the most unexpected places. From dominating street football matches in Mexico to becoming a hero and champion at a detention center in Texas, he has a quiet humility and urgency that have never left him. Football has always been an outlet for him and the game has always managed to find him, no matter where in the world he was. To meet him is to admire him. He looks more than comfortable with a ball at his feet. It is impressive to see his calm demeanor while on the field, and although he continues to rack up achievements and accolades through the sport he loves, he knows whatever field or court he is on, stability and peace come before any trophy. This is a story of daily sacrifices rooted in love. Love for family, love for football, and a love for God who has blessed him with talent, gratitude, and the ability to support those around him. _ Guerrilla FC and the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights have partnered to tell real stories of immigrants who have faced detention and deportation. These are stories of empowerment, that celebrate courage, resilience, and the drive to belong - on the field and beyond. 30% of U.S. immigrants say they are worried about being asked to prove their U.S. citizenship or immigration status during their daily activities (Pew Research Center, 2025). No one should be afraid to go to work, get groceries, or drop off their kids at school. We’re meeting this moment with intention, raising critical funds to provide legal representation to those most at risk. We’re done standing by. Stand for someone. This is not a story of perfection. This is a story of reflection. At the time of his arrival in the United States, danger circled the neighborhood he cherished. He began drawing and developing a love for soccer as a means to stay out of the streets and protect himself. “Great things are not accomplished in your spare time,” is what his parents would always tell him. A move to a new state brought more spare time, and then came a change of scenery—a new environment to make a mark on. He said that although the artist in him still existed, so did the rebel child who had traveled many roads not knowing exactly where he would end up. One decision at the wrong place and time, during a period of finding his footing on new ground, led to years of incarceration. For him, these were moments of connection. Connecting with himself; connecting with faith as he converted to Islam; and ultimately, connecting with his mentor, whom he credits with saving his life. From using his art as a way to bond and communicate with former inmates, to sharing his paintings, drawings, and poetry with the outside world today, creative expression has always been his escape. Like the monarch, our new friend is seasoned when it comes to generational journeys. He has juggled unimaginable obstacles. Still, there is no hate in his heart or contempt in his bones. His energy, compassion, dedication, and vibrance are contagious. With the help of Amica Center, this amazing man, who is a pillar in his community and a leader in his family, has been given an opportunity to change the lives of many, while living in his own still moments. To an exceptional man, with an exceptional story: May your wings never fail. Like you, may we find life’s beauty even when it seems like an impossible task or an immovable mountain. _ Photography / Creative Direction: @polofilmphoto Storytelling: @tyalbo

Football has always been in motion. It’s the world’s most universal sport not by accident, but because it has always traveled with people. Across borders, through cities and neighborhoods by communities building homes far from where they started, played wherever there’s space to make it ours. And as the world focuses more on this game ahead of World Cup, this global story feels more visible than ever. On May 16, we’ll bring this idea to life. Introducing, “In Motion,” a night celebrating our collaborative Monarch Collection with @amica.center . The Monarch Collection is about that. Migration, survival, personal stories of resilience, and the instinct to find and build a home. Pull up with us for a night that sits somewhere between a run and a gathering. For a night at @the507events with intentional impact. Proceeds from the capsule will go toward legal defense to support people navigating detention and deportation proceedings. This game has always been more than just a sport to us. This moment is bigger than just a release, but a statement about who the game belongs to, and who gets to stay. RSVP in link in bio.

Eight years spent in prison. Six and a half in solitary confinement. A survivor of multiple assaults, shown through jarring X-rays, he was broken physically, but never spiritually. At no point during incarceration, did he ever imagine that his best friend would be a Japanese-American photography teacher who was previously incarcerated during World War II. Until one day, an eager pen pal with hopes of seeing him succeed, opened his eyes to the wonderful types of people this world has to offer. Did she have to be there for him? No. She chose to be; during his time of need. Something he could not take for granted, even if he tried. This charitable act from a stranger turned family, which he reciprocated to our team over a love-filled homemade meal, taught him a valuable lesson that we all can sit with for some time, “It’s not just about us.” Although the roads we travel may look bleak at first glance, the meals, prayers, and sport we share with the ones closest to us are a perpetual reminder that even detours have experiences worth remembering. _ Guerrilla FC and the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights have partnered to tell real stories of immigrants who have faced detention and deportation while protecting their identities. The game was built on movement. This is an account of a son, a brother, a protector, who had dreams of becoming a professional footballer. And his journey has not been easy. At the age of 15, he courageously placed his dreams on the shelf next to his medals and trophies as he began making a move to the United States. Without a dollar in his pocket and no idea of where exactly he would end up, from Honduras to Guatemala, Veracruz to Virginia, this next friend of ours has overcome moments of fear, vulnerability, and instability to live the life he does today. Football has long been a source of comfort, peace, and attachment to wherever we may call home. However, like all things, there are difficult moments during the in between. Moments when you are forced to make life-altering decisions. Moments that may define not only your legacy, but the legacy of your family. What happens then? More movement. A move to unknown territory. Movement by train, across rivers, and through the woods that seemingly never end. Movement like a monarch butterfly, migrating miles and miles hoping to land on welcoming soil; a place for growth, shelter, and prosperity. To be continued. _ Guerrilla FC and the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights have partnered to tell real stories of immigrants who have faced detention and deportation. Last year, 22 photographers embarked on a sprawling adventure to cover every round of the Open Cup—the oldest running sports competition in America. Some endured brutal snowstorms in New England to document a club’s first game, ever. Others drove winding roads across California just to photograph a burrito restaurant with a soccer team. In North Carolina, a couple of brave explorers captured definitive proof that Sasquatches are getting carried away with soccer fever deep in the forests of Appalachia. In many ways, the chaos of this intoxicatingly gritty and colorful tournament, gave us glimpses into the best parts of American culture. Neighbors banding together to support local businesses, immigrant communities proudly celebrating their roots and bringing new traditions to this country, strangers holding hands in the face of a common goal… dozens of little moments and actions that reminded us of the shared ethos that we were always told lay at the very foundation of America. Ahead of the World Cup on our home soil, we wanted to display all those findings from the dedicated photographers who launched on this common journey, in the very heart of the nation’s capital. An evening to celebrate their work and the spirit of the Open Cup through a curated gallery, a pickup tournament, and conversations with guest speakers who’ve seen it all in the American soccer space. See you on Saturday! RSVP (free) through the link in bio. 📍507 8th Street SE, Washington, DC 🗓️ April 18, 2026. 6pm - 10pm #americansoccer #sportsphotography #ussoccer #soccerphotography #dcevents

Let us tell you about a friend of ours, whose journey has been far from linear. Detention to freedom; living fast to fasting; apprehensiveness to artistic prowess; he has lived life ten times over. Instability and search for opportunities have always been a constant in his life. Born in Nicaragua to a hard-working father, who he did not meet until he was eight years old, and a mother who drilled education into him from as early as he can remember, this combination of grit and intelligence would soon be the foundation of a man who has strived to live a life of patience, respect, and big, big dreams. “Dream big, live large, and always smile,” is what he said to us. Having only known him for a few hours, it became abundantly clear that his lust for life could never be taken away, no matter how hard anyone tried. We could also tell that this approach to life was not something new, and he has been this way since the beginning. To be continued. _ Guerrilla FC and the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights have partnered to tell real stories of immigrants who have faced detention and deportation. These are stories of empowerment, that celebrate courage, resilience, and the drive to belong - on the field and beyond. As of February 2026, nearly 70,000 immigrants were in ICE detention (TRAC, 2026). With no right to a public defender in immigration court, many are forced to navigate complex deportation proceedings alone.
