Diagnosed with POTS at age 12, Alexis Gefroh experienced firsthand how difficult it was to explain an “invisible illness” to others. Frustrated by the lack of clear, accessible information, she created a simple tri-fold pamphlet explaining POTS symptoms and ways to support someone living with the condition.
She translated the resource into Spanish and distributed it through Facebook groups, school nurses across the Chandler Unified School District and local medical offices. She also adapted the material into a blog post for Dysautonomia International. Her outreach generated more than 500 online interactions and led to the distribution of more than 400 printed pamphlets and 48 digital copies. A Girl Scout for 13 years, Alexis credits the organization with strengthening her advocacy skills.
A graduate of Higley High School, she now attends the University of Arizona as an honors student majoring in biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology. Congratulations, Alexis!

It’s Troop Tuesday! ✨💚 The Cadettes of Troop 7425 completed their Bronze Award with a project rooted in spreading love and positivity. The girls worked with the Desert Methodist Church to upgrade their current rock labyrinth with rocks painted with kind words, uplifting phrases, and joyful colors. Growing up around agriculture, Abigail was surprised by how little many people understood about where their food comes from. In her efforts to reduce food waste and reconnect youth to agriculture, Abigail created a Girl Scout Junior badge program centered on agricultural education.
Through multiple “Agriculture Days” hosted at Dobson High School in Mesa in partnership with FFA students, more than 30 Juniors at each event learned firsthand about farming’s role in society. Abigail developed a booklet modeled after official badge pamphlets and designed an approved patch now sold at the council shop, with plans to pursue national recognition.
A Girl Scout of 11 years, she credits the program with helping her grow as a leader and step outside her comfort zone. Abigail is a graduate of Dobson High School and plans to study law in college. She aspires to become a U.S. senator to create meaningful policy change.

The Girl Scout Movement in motion 🎉 This past weekend, members of our council joined staff and our Board members for the 2026 Annual Meeting.
Girl Scouts took the stage to share council highlights from the 2024-25 membership year; Board members reviewed our organization’s financial and programmatic progress, and we celebrated the contribution of our Immediate Past Board Chair, Susan Trujillo.
As we closed the chapter of the previous membership year, we welcomed the changes of the present. Long time Board Member, Jenny Holsman Tetreault was elected as the incoming Board Chair – she shared passion and vision for GSACPC as she gave her incoming remarks.
Girl Scout Media Mentors, Kiana, Nadia and Kennadi took the stage after the conclusion of the business meeting for a live recording of our council’s podcast, Dear Sister. The girls interviewed Susan Trujillo and Girl Scout Alumna, CEO of Let’s Go Compost, Lauren Click. They explored the event theme, “Soaring through Service” and answered questions submitted by other Girl Scouts!
Thank you to our Annual Meeting Committee for working meticulously to make this event a sucess! We’re looking forward to what the rest of this membership year has in store.
