A throwback to the repeated arches and hidden joinery in House for a Filmmaker. The generous proportions of the existing house were combined with the extension to give a large open plan space for the kitchen, dining and living spaces. There are annexed rooms off this larger space: a library, gym, cinema room and steam room as seen here.

Looking back at the Old Rectory kitchen today.
The building had been abandoned for several years and suffering from damp before our clients discovered it and embarked on a complete overhaul.

We love this view of Ripple House with a 1960s copper roofed church in the background. We particularly like the way that the brick bands of the corner development compliment the timber cladding from this angle.
Internally you can see the first floor landing serving the bedroom and bathroom, the curved walls enclosing the stairs are clad in timber and continue up to a roof terrace.
The last image shows a central courtyard serving the ground floor flat and allowing into the ground floor kitchen of the main house.

A few more shots from our Ripple House project. The development includes a two-bedroom maisonette, a one-bedroom house and a three-bedroom ground floor unit.
More images to follow soon.

A sneak peek of our Ripple House photographs. It was a tough job picking our final selection from all the amazing shots @frenchandtye managed to capture.
We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks.

A couple of examples of using tone/ colour on exposed beams in rear extensions. The black beam at Bousfield Road is used between the existing building’s outrigger and the sloped ceiling and complements the dark tones of the kitchen. The blue beams at Ewhurst Road contrast with the green fronts and bring a sense of fun to the space.

We’ve been looking at precast stone elements in the office today. We’re big fans of the material, it offers a consistent quality, colour and texture.
Seen here at our Upper Brockley Road project.

A closer look at our Wickham Road project — a single storey extension in the Brockley Conservation Area.
The ‘saw-tooth’ banding ties the newer building back to its Victorian neighbour. The gradient effect was achieved using custom concrete blocks, manufactured from moulds we produced in-house using our CNC machine. We then tested colours with the contractor to create tones similar to the existing brick and new zinc roof.
Inside, the palette shifts to a calmer and more minimal language. The top floor bathroom has soft natural light from above and a pared-back material selection.

Sneak peek at our latest extension project in the Blackheath Conservation Area. 🏡🏡🏡
The design explores a natural material palette, combining a timber structure with a brick base and expansive glazing to blur the boundary between interior and exterior. Internally, the extension is articulated through varying ceiling heights. Floor to ceiling glazing is carefully configured to maximise natural light from the north-facing garden and to create a bright, generous kitchen/ dining space that links seamlessly to the outdoors.

Douglas fir steps are used in several prominent locations in the house. Seen here in a lobby space and an upstairs bedroom.
Blue quarry tiles run throughout the ground floor even in the bathroom.
