Home just in time for Motherâs Day. Gisell spent months in detention after being taken by ICE. She is documented, she entered the country through a legal process, they took her anyway.
A habeas was filed and after the petition was granted she was sent to a bond hearing where she was granted release - but her freedom would cost $15,000
If this sounds ridiculous and unfair, thatâs because it is. Not only that but the attorney for the DOJ was so angry that she was granted bond that they immediately filed a motion to send her to an unknown country through something called âpretermitâ. It was a crazy maneuver but when it comes to immigration law nothing surprises me anymore.
This maneuver meant we needed to get Gisell out immediately before a judge had the opportunity to grant that motion.
Free My Friends partnered with another fund to get Gisellâs bond paid the day it was granted. Two days later she was home, back into the arms of her mother just in time for Motherâs Day.
All I want for Motherâs Day this year is to reunite all of the families torn apart by this evil administration. Please consider making a donation to our organization.
100% of your donation will directly fund cases just like Gisellâs. Please visit our website to learn more.
ÂĄFeliz DĂa de la Madre! đ As some may know, each week our volunteers make food deliveries for families that have been affected by ICE, along with diapers & other necessities. This week one of our volunteers also provided us with these beautiful bouquets to share with the mothers of families we have been supporting. Today we honor all mothers, but especially those who have been harmed by ICE đđđ

Today, May 1st, we showed up for International Workersâ Rights and these local businesses showed up with us.
In whatever ways they couldâclosing their doors, sharing resources, joining marches, or standing in visible solidarity they made it clear that workersâ rights matter. This movement is stronger because of our collective effort.
If youâre looking for ways to continue showing up:
⢠Join marches and community actions happening today
⢠Share information to help educate others about workersâ rights
⢠Respect and participate in boycotts
⢠Continue to advocate for sanctuary policies
⢠Support and uplift immigrants, workers and organizers in your community
And when today passes, remember who stood with workers. Make a point to support these local businesses that chose solidarity over silence!
International Workersâ Day isnât just a moment
itâs a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together
⢠Ănete a marchas y acciones comunitarias hoy
