One of the things we’re working on right now is helping to make sure more kids in Michigan have access to fresh, local food at school.
It’s called the 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan Kids and Farm program @10centsmi —and it’s one of those ideas that just makes sense.
Kids get healthier meals.
Farmers get a reliable market.
Communities stay connected to local food.
But programs like this don’t sustain themselves without long-term support.
That’s a big part of what we’re working toward right now—and why this moment matters.
If you want to help keep this kind of work moving forward, join us. Donate today via the link in our bio!
Groundwork's Cori Fitzpatrick, our Farm to Institution Specialist, was recently invited to join a nationwide "procurement community of practice" in which 74 food system professionals were selected to identify problem points in the purchase and distribution of local food and propose ways to improve the system. Read our interview with Cori about this important 2-year initiative! [Link to article in bio.]

Through Groundwork's Building Resilient Communities program, families at Bright Light Early Care and Education in Battle Creek, MI are bringing healthy, local food from the classroom to their kitchen tables.
With access to seasonal produce, recipes, and resources, families are building lifelong habits around nutrition, access, and community connection.
"Families love it!" shares Bright Light's Kaleigh Burnett.
When you support Groundwork, you're helping make this impact possible—one family, one meal, one community at a time.

We’ve been talking a lot about “Build What Comes Next.” And honestly, it’s not just a slogan. It’s what we do.
It looks like making sure kids have access to fresh, local food at school.
It looks like working with communities to figure out where renewable energy actually makes sense.
It looks like creating better ways for people to move around northern Michigan and across the state.
It’s steady, behind-the-scenes work. The kind that takes time. But it matters—because it shapes what our communities look like in the years ahead.
If that kind of work feels important to you, you’re already part of it. 💛
Support this work and be a part of what’s next (link to donate is in our bio)
