I was at the Cherry Blossom Festival at
@buffalohistorymuseum , taking in the moment… enjoying the scenery and the calm energy, the kind of beauty that reminds you to slow down.
For a second, everything felt peaceful. And then I saw an overflowing trash bin. Cups, plates, wrappers spilling out onto the ground… right next to something so naturally perfect.
And it just didn’t sit right with me.
How do we stand in the middle of something so beautiful, take pictures, smile, enjoy it… and then leave it worse than we found it?
How do we admire nature, but not respect it enough to protect it? To keep it clean and tidy?
It made me think… being from Buffalo, we always say we’re the City of Good Neighbors. But being a good neighbor isn’t just about how we treat people when it’s convenient.
It’s about how we show up when no one is watching. It’s about the small decisions… like holding onto your trash a little longer, walking a few extra steps to find a bin, or simply choosing not to leave a mess behind.
Because that’s what respect looks like.
This city of buffalo
@cityofbuffaloofficial @eriecountyny gives us so much, our parks, our festivals, our seasons, our sense of community. These aren’t just backdrops for photos. They’re shared spaces, and they deserve care.
If we really love Buffalo, we have to prove it. Not just in words, not just in pride, but in action. In the way we leave things behind for the next person. In the way we protect what we didn’t even create.
And to the city leader
@mayorseanryan and organizations such as
@bfloparks @groundwork_buffalo @buffalogreenfund @nysdec @wnytrashmob .. this is also a call to involve us, Buffalonians, more!
Call us in. We are ready to help, ready to lead, and ready to build something better… just give us the opportunity.
There is a strong community of Buffalonians on the East Side ready to help, and we also need more initiatives and projects to clean up here on the East Side.
P.S. Let’s make Buffalo a city of clean neighborhoods, not just good neighbors ❤️
Love,
Arakan Prince 👑
