So the housing movement pulled up with economists, union workers, affordable housing developers, tenants, and RECEIPTS.
Last Friday, our coalition presented data and analysis to the ULA Ad Hoc Committee about what ULA is actually doing for Los Angeles.
Turns out the sky is not falling. ULA is delivering, the false claims are not holding up, and weakening ULA would have devastating consequences for the people already struggling to stay housed.
Affordable housing is getting built. Families are receiving support. People are staying housed. We cannot let City Hall reverse course now.

Phoebe is at risk of losing her home and returning to homelessness after years of fighting to get here.
After the devastating loss of her husband, Phoebe spent nearly seven years experiencing homelessness, doing everything she could to survive while navigating a system that repeatedly failed her.
Phoebe finally found housing at a ULA building owned by Little Tokyo Service Center and thought that she found a stable home. However, that wasn't the case.
Phoebe's rent was not set based on her income. It consumed nearly all of her monthly benefits, leaving her with just $300 to survive. Over time, she fell behind not because she failed, but because the system failed her yet again. Now she is facing eviction.
We are raising funds to help Phoebe pay off her debt and stay housed. If we can cover what she owes, she has a real chance to remain in her apartment and rebuild stability.
Phoebe is not just someone in need, she is someone who has given a tremendous amount. She is a great friend and a fierce advocate for people experiencing homelessness. She has spoken at press conferences, helped educate the community about Measure ULA, and is an active member of Ground Game LA.
She has shown up for her community again and again. Now she needs her community to show up for her.

At this year’s #MayDay rally in Los Angeles, renters were present in force! We call on city and state lawmakers to protect the democratically passed Measure ULA. It is high time government stopped caving to wealthy developers who don’t want to pay their fair share in taxes, and instead start to truly prioritize affordable housing and homelessness prevention for the working class.
