One Painting - No. 6 Scott Noel “Britomart” Oil on linen 84 x 78 inches $15,000 At over seven feet tall, the figures in this painting meet the viewer at their own scale. Set within the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Cast Hall, Scott Noel developed the work among plaster casts and live models over time. The central figure came to be associated with ‘Britomart’, the androgynous warrior heroine from Edmund Spenser’s epic poem “The Faerie Queene”. Over nine months, passing students and models entered the work, their presence held in the seated figures and in the bouquet at the model’s feet. Available through the gallery. The Faerie Queene Image credit: Walter Crane (1845–1915), “In th’evening late old Glaucé thither led” (1895-97), print, ‘Spenser’s Faerie Queene’, ed TJ Wise, George Allen, London, Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington, DC. One Painting - No. 5 Joseph Lozano “Winter (The Hermit)”, 2025 Oil on canvas 48 x 60 inches $8,500 This painting draws on a little-known monastic sect led by Johannes Kelpius, settling in the Wissahickon Valley in the late seventeenth century, seeking solitude, ritual, and spiritual clarity at the edge of the known world. Lozano uses that history to structure “Winter (The Hermit)”, organizing belief, doubt, and mysticism within a single, contemplative space. Available through the gallery. #grossmccleafgallery @grossmccleaf  @josephplozano @pafalumni @pafacademy

Save the date for… Mickayel Thurin: Shifting June 5 - July 11 Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6 at Gross McCleaf Gallery 123 Leverington Ave, Philadelphia, PA Through painting, text, color, and layered materials, Mickayel Thurin creates deeply personal works that explore motherhood, spirituality, emotional processing, and self-realignment. Her paintings move between intimate reflection and collective experience, channeling emotional states through saturated color, expressive figures, and handwritten text. “My work discusses ideas about motherhood, spirituality, and consciousness as it intersects the bounds of dimensions and space time. Art is my way of processing experiences, translating raw feelings into visual form.” - Mickayel Thurin Featured: “Realignment”, 2026, Acrylic and decorative paper on stretched canvas, 40” x 30” @mickathurin @grossmccleaf @pafacademy @pafalumni

Like cloud gazing itself, Nicole Michaud’s paintings never fully settle into a single image. “My work is concerned both with the external landscape, the spaces we live in, and the internal landscape, the space within ourselves.” - Nicole Michaud In Michaud’s paintings, landscapes, figures, and reflections hover somewhere between observation and imagination, revealed through layered fields of translucent oil color on mylar and canvas. “I am drawn to views with a poetic relationship between human scale and far horizons.” Christine Lafuente’s seascapes hold onto shifting conditions of light, atmosphere, and distance. Forms emerge gradually through layered passages of oil color, hovering between recognition and abstraction as the eye moves across the surface. “Painter’s Cabinet”, alongside the source. Christine Lafuente’s still life objects are kept close at hand, used and revisited, and translated through the language of paint.
