The Virginia A. Groot Foundation, established in 1988 by Candice B. Groot in honor of her mother, supports artists working in three-dimensional media through annual unrestricted grants in three tiers ($60,000, $30,000, and $20,000) to help fuel creative growth. These grants allow artists to dedicate time to new work, explore materials, pursue research, or take on ambitious projects that advance their practice.
Open to artists 21 and older who are not currently enrolled in a degree program, the Groot Grants support independent, self-directed work at any stage of an artist’s career. Beyond individual funding,
@grootfoundation also contributes to residencies, initiatives, and publications that uplift the world of sculpture and three-dimensional art.
The application deadline for the 2026 Groot Grant is January 10, 2026. Through this meaningful opportunity for artists seeking time, resources, and support to elevate their craft, the foundation continues to honor Candice Groot’s vision and dedication to artistic development.
