Approvals are the secret to quality. Sharing material samples and maquettes with designers ensure results and something as easy as an overnight package can give an architect or designer a physical model that communicates fit, form, and finish in a way a photo or napkin sketch might not. Also, who doesn't love opening an overnighted package!
A small amount of squeeze out is desirable when gluing up wood. It indicates you've applied enough to fill the joint completely. Clamping pressure is evenly applied across the joint and squeeze out is a good indicator of gaps and voids, which could significantly weaken the bond.
A reveal can create a clean line and sense of separation between different materials. Adding visual interest and highlighting unique textures and colors.

A peek behind the curtain! #woodworker Solid white oak banding delicately wraps the exterior of the torsion-box platform. Our skilled craftsman created an edge-band out hard lumber. For the corners, a combination of hand-forming and cnc-cut parts complete the big radius. Inside the torsion box, solid white oak blocking exists to support the hand-turned spindle legs.
We love working with unique materials. Client has exquisite taste and selected this Loro Piana Interiors wool. After adding a knit-back to control some of the mailability and wrapping our dual-density foam stack with a Dacron mat our upholsterer the final sit on the couch is a luxurious drop into comfort.
