<A worker gets home from his job and is faced with a dead body in his small apartment room. He doesn't recognize the dead man. It soon hits him that he can easily become a suspect of murder and falls into panic. Under huge stress and fear the man fails multiple times trying to dispose of any evidence of the dead body throughout the night. Any further actions only drives him into a deeper pit of no hope for an escape... With the Sun beggining to rise, the man is left with either trying to fight his fate further on or handing himself to the police.>
The essence of Kowloon Walled City reminded me of Kobo Abe short story "An Irrelevant Death" thus some motives from the story can be recognised in my set "Life In a Box". The presence of a corpse allows the viewer to sense what might have happened - a mysterious murder.

<Kowloon Walled City has deviated radically from the norm - it was a huge megastructure that the residents built without a proper education. High-rise buildings leaned against each other, very narrow and dark streets were formed, the city isolated itself. Entering the city meant leaving daylight behind. Insulation, poverty, lack of comfort, claustrophobia are the features of the city that I try to replicate in my set.>

<Kowloon Walled City flourished in the XIX - XX century, Hongkong and was once among the most densely populated places on Earth. A lawless labyrinth renowned for the crime and anarchy that took place within the 2.7 hectare of space. It was known as a slum - a dark, dank place filled with dust, garbage, rats, cheap drugs, the smell of chemicals. What seems to be hell to some, others would call it their home. Poverty, chaos, claustrophobia were the main traits of the city I was trying to reflect in a small, three-square-foot size room.>

Tęsiu ciklą iš "Nepaprasto grožio Edo šokėja" ("The beautiful dancer of Yedo") scenografijos projekto. Šįkart didesnis dėmesys pasakos veikėjai Sakurako ir jai kurto įvaizdžio įgyvendinimui. Bandyta pasiūti kimono ir obi, formuota šukuosena bei atliktas grimas. Galbūt ne viskas gavosi kaip norėta, bet patirtimi džiaugiuosi 😁
