A laterite pavilion, unfolded quietly out of green. Set within the refreshing scents of a 100-acre coffee plantation in Mudigere, Chikkamagaluru.
The house is revealed gradually rather than announced. A laterite-clad driveway draws one in, gently softening into broad steps and seaters that shape an entrance court. An in-between space where arrival pauses and the landscape is allowed to seep into daily life. The linear form, aligned carefully along the north–south axis, unfolds as a sequence of sheltered thresholds and open verandahs. Generous sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, allowing soft eastern light to wash the living spaces in the mornings while extending the house into a lawn that slowly fades into the coffee plantation beyond. Filtered western facades temper the harsher sun, maintaining constant visual connection with the surrounding greenery. A continuous roof binds the spaces below, offering shade, shelter, and climatic comfort. During the monsoon, the roof profile collects rainwater and guides it back to the earth, quietly completing a cycle between built form and land.

Set amidst the refreshing scents of a 100-acre coffee plantation in Mudigere, Chikkamagaluru, the house is approached by a laterite driveway that gently transforms into seaters and steps—forming a threshold between land and living. The linear north–south mass opens through large sliding doors into verandahs, drawing in soft morning light and extending seamlessly into a lawn that dissolves into the plantation beyond.
