Yesterday my son Sean @Sean The Official graduated 🎓 with honors from KSU! The tears he shedded was a reminder of how he got here! The road was not easy but he persevered! 🥹 God gave him the fortitude to push through when he thought his life was falling apart! These tears are just a reminder that our black boys go through so much just to be seen, heard, recognized and validated!

Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to bring three outstanding young men from my Check & Connect Program to the 100 Black Men of DeKalb Scholarship Gala at the beautiful Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
Ian, Jaiden, and Zach did an amazing job helping to host the VIP experience and assisting me on the Black Carpet. They were confident, poised, and completely assured of themselves as they networked with some of the most influential leaders in our community.
Watching these young scholars step into such a prestigious environment with grace and professionalism made me incredibly proud. Opportunities like this remind us that exposure is everything. When our youth are placed in rooms of excellence, they begin to see what is possible for their own futures.
I am honored to be a part of their journey and to help create experiences that inspire them to dream bigger.

Changing Lives One Haircut at a Time 💈❤️
Now you know, I’m always gonna do something to make my scholars feel special!☺️ So this past Monday, my Check & Connect Program partnered with Barber Hearts, Tony Roberts of Tony Roberts Barber Studio, and Mr. Denson’s incredible mobile barber unit to create a transformational experience for 30 amazing young scholars.
What started as one young man’s dream of becoming a barber turned into something far greater than I could have imagined. I promised him that if he stayed focused, came to school consistently, and raised his grades, I would help make his dream a reality. Today, that promise has come true. An internship was secured, barbering tools were donated, and a future was set in motion. I’m not crying 😭 you are!
But the impact didn’t stop there.
Thirty young men received free haircuts, meaningful mentorship, and exposure to the art and passion of barbering. The smiles on their faces said it all. They were grateful, confident, and proud—because in that moment, they felt seen, valued, and deeply cared for.
This was more than a grooming event. It was a reminder that when a community comes together, dreams are nurtured, confidence is restored, and lives are forever changed.
Thank you to Mr. Denson for bringing your mobile barber unit, Tony Roberts of Tony Roberts Barber Studio, and the entire Barber Hearts team for pouring into our students and helping them see the greatness within themselves.
