Today marks the release of our third full-length album Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk. We've worked on this album for nearly four years and are delighted to finally be able to share it with you.

Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk explores the second half of Ruben Wijlacker's novel De protodood in zwarte haren, in which the fictional 20th-century Modernist artist Pedro’s obsession with abstraction and artistic extremism reaches its climax.

Creating the conceptual and sonic world of Zwart vierkant and Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk took us over ten years. With both albums now released and well-received, we are turning our gaze elsewhere. Our new material will have both a different concept and sound, which we look forward to sharing with you in due course.

This is one of the densest, most experimental tracks of our upcoming album 'Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk'. It explores various sonic spaces through dissonance, uneven time signatures, intricate harmonies, and shifting tempos.
Thematically, ‘Moordend ongeluk’ delves into betrayal, jealousy, and revenge. Its fragmented narrative unfolds like a Surrealist fever dream.

‘Zwart vierkant: Slotstuk’ (Black Square: Finale/Final piece) continues our journey into the intersection of abstract art and psychological disintegration. It conceptually based on the second half of Ruben Wijlacker’s 2019 novel ‘De protodood in zwarte haren’, in which a Modernist painter attempts to deconstruct physical reality through his abstract art. This second half marks the story’s climax, where all ties to tangible reality are severed.
