when ‘Begin To Look Around’ was released, many of u pointed out to me that there was an underlying sense of optimism in my songwriting, even in my most crushing of heartbreak anthems. i was so often looking for the light, seeking out the silver lining, and making lemonade out of lemons when working through any given situation - putting a positive spin on it, one might say. 🤭 the year 2022 saw me leaning into that way of writing more than ever. i wrote the majority of the album under sparkly, summery Californian skies, as well as in the thick of London’s heatwave. after 2 years in and out of lockdowns in Melbourne, my gratitude for anything and everything was amplified, and all i could do was write about it, immortalise it and try to capture it as accurately as i could in my music.
i wrote around 80-90 songs for this album, but we narrowed it down to these 12 tracks that have my whole heart. 💛 i have worked so hard to make this album as amazing as possible for you. i’ve gone over it with the finest of fine tooth combs, taken risks, further embraced my relentless love for pop music and overall, just had the time of my life making these songs. it is a self-reflective, sun-kissed album that i hope makes you laugh, cry, dance, think, and most importantly, soak up the beauty of life like a sponge. NOW the year ahead is looking bright !! 🍋

a belated Before The Bloom post 🌼🫶 a huge thank you to my darling heart Mais for having me join her as a feature vocalist (and bonus backstage dance coach - who would’ve thought !) on her perfect little Australian run of shows ahead of the release of her third studio album ‘Florescence’. Maisie and I have been joined at the hip (while thousands of miles apart more often than not) since we met 6 years ago. getting to be a part of her tour family and musical journey is a massively inspiring, gigantic privilege. her generosity is unconditional and unmatched - i watch her work insanely hard constantly, while also being the most attentive, warm and magnetic presence in every room she is in. and i know i am biased, but this next record of hers is truly her most special yet. adore you petal ! come back soon ! @maisiehpeters 🥰😘 pics by the best @soapscott , slide 6 cutie spinny video from @emhdderr 💫
a quiet final week of the quietest year that i’ve had in a decade. a big time of refilling the well, 2025 was the year that i swam and swam and wrote and wrote. a lot of time in nature, and a lot of deeply necessary healing of my body, heart and mind. wrapping my arms around my dear friends who contributed to this you know who you are !! big shoutout also to LA, London, Sydney and Rainbow Valley for the songs they gave me, to the Liminal Space shows in June for the way they brought me back to myself, and to the ocean - restless yet reassuring - for the many, many morning swims 🐬 i’ll see you in 2026 ! all my love, G x
