Weeks posts
Turn the volume up on our promo video. This week, our #NYTReadalong guest is Greg Pliska, a freelance puzzlemaker and composer. He contributed to Puzzle Mania, The New York Times’ annual special section devoted to puzzles. Neil Parekh will be the guest host. We’ll be live on Sunday at 8:30am ET on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and our Digimentors website. Click the link in our bio for links to watch, a gift link to 52 Places to Go and a .pdf of 52 Places. Greg, created seven mini puzzles. Quoting Will Shortz, puzzle editor of The New York Times, “Together the crossword and mini puzzles are like a treasure hunt or escape room in newspaper form. Solve everything, then follow the directions to get a ‘’meta-answer.’’’ After we finish talking about Puzzles, we will turn our attention to The New York Times’s 52 Places to Go in 2023. We’ll take a look at both the online and the print edition. From the opening essay, “Travel’s rebound has revealed the depth of our drive to explore the world. Why do we travel? For food, culture, adventure, natural beauty? This year’s list has all those elements, and more.” ---------------------- We have been reviewing the print edition of the Sunday New York Times for seven years. The show is produced by Digimentors. We produce high-quality virtual and hybrid events for organizations big and small around the world. We also do social and digital consulting, training and workshops. Sree Sreenivasan is our host. I am the executive producer and occasional guest host. Paula Kiger helps produce the show, engaging with the audience on Facebook and LinkedIn. If you're interested in having our team work with you, or are looking for sponsorship opportunities, please contact me: [email protected] or Neil Parekh at [email protected]. Thank you to MuckRack for your support of the #NYTReadalong. #NewYorkTimes #Puzzles #Travel #52Places #SundayMorning

Friends and fellow puzzle enthusiasts, I'm excited to share something I've been working on for the past few weeks. This Thursday, January 29th, is National Puzzle Day. To celebrate, A.J. Jacobs and I are hosting a special live YouTube event at 7pm ET, and I'd love for you to join us. As many of you know, I've been creating puzzles professionally for years - for NPR's Weekend Edition, The New York Times, private events, and now our daily podcast Hello Puzzlers. This livestream has been a joy to prepare because I've been able to design puzzles specifically for the live, interactive format. Some will be familiar puzzle types and all of them are designed so you can solve along with us in real-time through the chat. We've also got wonderful guests joining us throughout the evening - puzzle creators and some surprises. Plus, two members of our Patreon community will be solving puzzles live with us on camera. The whole event is free and open to everyone. Just head to YouTube, search for "Hello Puzzlers" (or go directly to youtube.com/@hellopuzzlers ), find our National Puzzle Day livestream, and click "set reminder." Thursday, January 29th at 7pm Eastern Time. I hope you can make it! Best, Greg P.S. - Feel free to share this with anyone in your life who loves puzzles, brain teasers, or just a good mental challenge. The more people we have in the chat, the more fun it will be!

MSNBC Live this morning, as a (very) belated birthday present! Chris Hayes laid out a solid plus/minus list of where we are. Why we are toast? They are going for it. Why we are going to win? We don’t like kings.

Kudos to Juliana Pache on the launch of the first of many books in the Black Crossword series. Very cool event at new Black woman-owned Liz’s Book Bar in Carroll Gardens. Juliana was one of our early guests on THE PUZZLER and a favorite!

Sucks to have one of these, but the other makes up for it.
