‘Well Wishing - Wishing Well’ for ‘It Requires Getting Lost’ which is on @castlefieldgall until Feb! The exhibition which is a partnership between @venturearts_ @therobertsinstituteofart and @castlefieldgall was a wonderful process which allowed room for plenty of discussion, friendship and support to form between myself, Malik Jama and @jocelynjmcg 💚 Thank you to the incredible @beeya87 for working on the text. Me and Priya used to talk mainly about art and books whilst working together so it was really amazing to be able to work together on this. Going to post some photos about the process of making the film at some point too, Install documentation by @juleslisterphotography 🍃 🌳

We're excited to announce that the new exhibition ‘Between the Winds, Amongst the Roots: Bio-Sensing the City’ will be taking over the @modal_soda LED Façade at @schoolofdigitalarts in collaboration with @videocity_bs from Nov 6-13 🎉 The exhibition, curated by LUDeC scholar Polina Chizhova-Wright, explores what we can learn about cities from natural data. Drawing from the concept of ‘Planetary Intelligence’. The presented video works from @shellyknotts_ & @gregoryherbertart collaborate with lichens and soil through durational and situated observation, utilising natural and technological sensors as ways of collating knowledge from non-human city dwellers 🌱 Be sure to visit SODA between 10:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00 and 18:00 -22:00 Mon-Fri during the dates above to view the exhibition.

Just over three weeks to go until ‘It Requires Getting Lost’ opens at Castlefield Gallery — an exhibition in partnership with Venture Arts and the Roberts Institute of Art. The exhibition brings together artists Gregory Herbert, Malik Jama and Jocelyn McGregor who have developed new work in dialogue with one another and in response to major works from the David and Indrė Roberts Collection. Their process began in our collection warehouse, where they explored and selected works by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Noémie Goudal, Pierre Huyghe, Leon Kossoff and Wolfgang Tillmans to include in the show. We can’t wait to share what they’ve created and to see the collection through their eyes. 📆 1 November 2025 — 22 February 2026 @castlefieldgall @venturearts_ @gregoryherbertart @jocelynjmcg

Honoured to be working with and exhibiting alongside so many amazing artists in a show opening in November @castlefieldgall I’ve been secretly working on this for a couple of months so excited to finally share! All the infomation below 👇 This year, the Roberts Institute of Art @therobertsinstituteofart , Castlefield Gallery @castlefieldgall and Venture Arts @venturearts_ have joined forces in a new, exciting partnership.  This unique project brings together three invited artists working in the North of England – Gregory Herbert @gregoryherbertart , Malik Jama and Jocelyn McGregor @jocelynjmcg  – to work in dialogue with one another and in response to major works from one of the UK’s most significant private collections, the David and Indrė Roberts Collection (managed by RIA).  These major works by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Noemie Goudal, Pierre Huyghe, Leon Kossoff, and Wolfgang Tillmans, co-selected by all involved, will be featured in the exhibition ‘It Requires Getting Lost’ at Castlefield Gallery (1 November 2025 — 22 February 2026).  Spending time with the collection commenced a research period designed to support Herbert, Jama and McGregor to develop new work for the exhibition at Castlefield Gallery.  The artists have together experienced one another’s sources of inspiration, including places and spaces where humanity and nature come into contact in unexpected ways.  Their time together will lead to an exhibition that invites us to wander amongst art works that encourage us to be at ease with the unknown and to embrace the unfamiliar offerings of our natural world.  More info to come soon!  📸 Images:  1. Gregory Herbert. Photography by Kieran Irvine @aka.keeks 2. Malik Jama, Soup Kitchen, 2022.
