A little behind the scenes video taken while i was making my floral series for @moonlightartscollective 🌼 they are available for purchase on their instagram shop and website. This is my first series in collaboration with Moonlight Arts Collective and I’m so excited about it!!!! Please go check out all of the other amazing artists they represent.
The paintings are gouache on paper from the 60’s or 70’s, and the references/flowers were all taken/grown by me.
Taking videos is always a challenge for me while creating work but luckily I’ve got an incredible Ash!!!

“Losing someone you love. Do you have a favorite park or spot that is special to you specifically? It’s as if this important place you love got erased from existence. It still existed, you knew it so well and intimately, but you can never go there again, and you can’t physically share it with anyone else. It still lives on in your stories and memories but its intangible and lost. No matter how much you try to accept it being gone you can never truly accept it because you know deep down in your heart it was real.”
Come to open Studios today!!!!! I will be showing off new work and giving peeks at some secret stuff.. @palmbeachculture hosts Open Studios for artists residing in Palm Beach County and I participate every year 😊 it is today and tomorrow, you can find info on all the studios participating on the cultural council’s website. Come say hi!!! We have cookies!
Mounted and delivered my photographs for the exhibition POV : A Shift In Perspective at @studio1608wpb which will be running during @palmbeachculture Open Studios.
I took these photos in 1993 when I was seven. The people are my mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and were all taken the same day.
I think it’s interesting that as a child I decided to capture my family. Growing up, kids look at family members with a sort of reverence that only seems to last during childhood. I also enjoy how these photos show a child’s perspective at eye level paired with the blurred effect, as if these were taken while running around. The blurriness also adds to the effect of a childhood memory.
These work were previously published in @inpursuitoferror 2019.
Thank you @boca.print for the amazing prints!! I can’t wait to work together again in the future.

Was going through old videos and found this gem. I projected some of my animations onto @fjord_prefect while he preformed with his band Montage in 2013 at @boyntonbeachartdistrict The song is called No More Meteorology. My animations are all hand drawn. I found one of my unscanned animations recently, I can’t wait to find time to scan and edit it! #gregorydirr #art #visualart #animation #projectionart
This painting is coming along nicely! I still have a long way to go but I’d say we’re over the halfway point. Now comes the fun part! There’s going to be a lot of subtle details and atmospheric phenomena all around. This is very influenced by Romantic paintings but doesn’t reference a specific painting, it’s all me i’m just trying to impart principles of Romantic paintings. The texture you see was created when I prepared my surface, the surface is three canvases attached together and then coated with layers of towels. While drying I manipulated the towels to achieve the texture. The texture became kinda the template of the painting and guided me when doing the under drawing. Very interesting process, I would definitely try again!!

She is coming along! Just finished the first layer of primer which means i can start detail sanding. She still has a while to go but i would say she’s more than halfway finished. For her clothing im going to glue on actual cloth and I’m debating gluing some kind of fiber to add texture to her hair.. So far i love how she’s turning out but she’s definitely still@a work in progress. The finished sculpture will have her seated on a magic carpet!!

This is just a little sneaky peek 👀

Just finished this yesterday. I wanted to make a happy version of one of the black paintings by Francisco Goya. Ive always like the Witches Sabbath painting and felt it needed a bizarro twin out there. Ive been heavily influenced by romantic painters recently and Goya is a super important one to me, surprised im just now doing one of his works.
The Little Girl’s Sabbath is Acrylic, Color Pencil on Linen, Canvas. The painting depicts the little girl bringing the gnome guys to get reprisal from the chocolate monster, the gnomes had terrible chocolate urges 🍫
My Coven piece on display @thecenterhollywood for their Center Salon Exhibition + Art Auction. This is my second year participating in the Salon and both times have been awesome. The quality of work is incredible, it’s a huge honor to show along side such amazing artists.
Coven references Peter Paul Rubens paintings. The women in his paintings are often portrayed in a mostly nude urgent panic while the men are usually more dignified and regal. I wanted to turn the gestures of the women into something powerful and confident so I felt like a witches sabbath was appropriate 😈
it’s a mostly reductive drawing done by erasing a charcoal toned paper, the charcoal and ashes used to tone the paper came from a fire pit in my back yard 🔥

Just finished a new landscape painting of the floating islands 🏝️ i wanted to make a calm night scene, i like the liminal dreamscape look. To me it’s at an intersection of romantic paintings and the work of Giorgio de Chirico with a little M.C. Escher sprinkled in. The floating islands aren’t spoken about too much in the narrative of The Big Book but are a huge part of it’s deep structure and are very important to the history of the world of The Big Book. When you think of floating islands what are some that come to mind??
