For a while now I've been relying on other people's designs, illustrations or using photography and image manipulation to make my stuff, which is great for collaboration projects and was useful for transitioning skills from my active live action days to my 'sitting on my ass getting a hunchback animation era'
Where I've always fallen flat though was creating things from scratch, so I've been gradually improving my core design and drawing skills, going back to basics and really adding some much needed foundation and variety to my toolbelt. (I call it a coolbelt)
Here's an animation I made, based on a sketch that I gon' dun did too.
A few of my favourite shots I made for the new BBC Timestamp and Earthscience miniseries. Really interesting stuff, it’s somewhere on the internet if you want to watch it.
Really pleased how this turned out.
I've always loved watching the game intros of yore, like the famous and satisfying 'EA Games - Challenge Everything' or the gruesome Neversoft idents that had my innocent brain thinking 'Are they allowed to do that?!?' - Sometimes I'd even restart my console so I could watch them over again. Pretty sad right?
Anyway, I finally got to animate one myself for Weird Woods, a smashing independent game developer! It's been funz.
