Sunday at @beachlifefestival was a perfect encapsulation of what I’m singing about in “Change I Know,” a song that has become our most streamed yet and a clear fan favorite. A bomb threat pushed the whole festival back 2 hours, and unfortunately, our set on the Riptide Stage had to be skipped for the greater good of keeping the festival running on time. It was a heavy blow for the band, to be honest, as we were sound checked and ready to rock, BUT that’s rock n roll, and that’s life, and I wouldn’t change a thing about how this dream unfolds before me… We’re never in control of anything except our reaction, so we rolled with it in gratitude and understanding, and then… …our festival liaison David Sauer (of @onehighfive ) made some calls, pulled some strings, and got us a 50-minute set on the @aviatornationdreamland stage inside the VIP @casurfclub lounge 🙌🏻 The Riptide Stage sound team even scrambled to find us a small drum set and true team work made the dream work 👏🏻 Maybe we’ll be back at BeachLife down the line 🤞🏻Either way, proud to be included in the lineup this year, had a total blast, met great people, played our hearts out, and move on with nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the whole BeachLife and @thevenicewest team from top to bottom 🙏🏻 NEXT UP: Catch a GIGC solo acoustic set at @sofarsoundsla in Venice area this Friday, May 8 and another Sofar show in Silverlake area on May 21 🤘🏻 Tehachapi, CA at @pdubs_tehachapi May 16 🍻 Members-only show at @malibuwines on May 17 🍷 📸: @camerondriskill / @aviatornationdreamland #beachlife #indierock #rocknroll #rockband socalmusic

So pumped to get another invite to play @redantspantsmusicfestival this summer! 🙌🏻🙏🏻 This was GIGC’s first major festival experience 5 years ago, and it was a total dream. Everyone we met out in White Sulphur Springs could not have been cooler and more appreciative of the energy we brought to the campground and on stage. There is genuine magic to be found under the big sky in the middle of a wide open field. It’s in the environment but also emanates the thousands of people gathering in great faith of having a good time. ✨ I look forward to running into some familiar faces, rekindling connections and creating new ones, campground hangs and jams, buying a fat stack of books for a few bucks at the library’s used book sale, enjoying the music of all the other artists performing, looking up at the stars while early morning dew settles down on the grass around me, drinking beers at the @2bassetbrewery and early morning meditations in the middle of nowhere 🌄 We’re bringing the full band this time. I think #ai music is dog sh💩t, and have no interest in utilizing @sunomusic in any part of the creative process, even if you pay me. Your CEO is a dipshit, and your software is built on theft. Your app is a silly novelty that is further damaging to a priceless, sacred medium of soulful expression that has already been devalued and endangered by technological forces seeking to CONTROL, MIMIC, OWN and SELL human ingenuity. You’re attempting to condition the next generation of music makers into thinking that typing prompts is creatively fulfilling, effectively robbing them of the joy of a timeless process in favor of quick, shallow satisfaction of churning out some soulless slop. Techno capitalists are increasingly using their influence to convince people that they need to make more, more and MORE “content,” faster, faster and FASTER, in hopes of boosting their social credit score within the never-ending scroll of the social media feed, further driving a dangerous addiction: that enough is never enough. Ancient Taoist wisdom: those who know enough is enough will always have enough. It’s enough for me to play my guitar and piano, write songs, play them with my band, record them with a human producer and mixer, who deserves to be paid for this work and exist within a creative and economic ecosystem that enables music to be an industry in the first place. The process that #suno wants to shortcut is essential, not just for the divine heart and soul of humanity to be baked into the final product we hear in speakers, but more importantly, it is a process of SELF DISCOVERY and SELF EXPLORATION and PERSONAL GROWTH that requires time, space, dedication, patience and direct experience to cultivate the art of becoming. For those who see value in Suno and other generative AI apps, that’s fine by me, do you, but I personally see humanity increasingly sliding down a slippery slope as we hand over our lives, abilities and likeness not just to the machine, but to a few untrustworthy, greedy humans who own that machinery to enrich themselves at the expense of the entire planet. #musicians #singersongwriter
