I got the most incredible surprise last week. The moment I stepped into my local bar for happy hour, the bartender told me that a member of @NKOTB was filming a music video next door. I just knew it had to be @joeymcintyre since his new album is coming out on the 25th!
I ran outside to check it out and the studio gates were shut, I figured they were done for the day. Then @Nicklaughs walks in to order a to-go drink and mentions he is working next door. He’s the choreographer! I started showing him the portraits of Joey I worked on over the summer. I look over and he’s filming my phone screen.
10 minutes later the door flings open and I hear “I think there is an artist in here I have to meet.” It’s Joey walking in with a friend filming my reaction and his super sweet mother-in-law! I was shocked!
I started showing him my pieces on my phone, he was so amazing and eager to see more. I told him I am sure he is busy but if he has time I’d love to show him my mural in the backyard of queer icons who made it in New York. He was happy to check it out. It was remarkable as we went down the row discussing each icon, then told me the wildest story. New Kids were at the unveiling of Keith Haring’s Statue of Liberty in NY! I’m on the hunt to get him the photo.
Joey is one of the nicest people and I am so honored that he would take the time to meet me after seeing my art. Truly a dream come true!
