Last Friday my Mom Carolyn Corner passed away. She was 82 and surrounded by family when it happened. In the days leading up to her death I was lucky enough to spend one on one time with her and tell her how much I loved her and how she shaped my life and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her. That was such a gift. My father passed suddenly when I was 15 and she was left with raising me along with my older brother and sister alone. I know that couldn’t have been easy.
She was born and raised in Ridgewood Queens NYC and still had the accent to prove it all the way up until her death. She was tough, stubborn but most importantly loving. I learned so much about having parties from her because she always made sure everyone was having a good time. I could go on and on with stories and tributes.
Her celebration of life will be Saturday January 24th 2026 (12pm-3pm ) at @shanahanspub (1999 75th street, Woodridge, IL. This will be the last party at the “corner house”. So please come if you knew my mother and share your favorite stories of her. Or if you can’t make it just share them in the comments. I would love to hear them.
It’s been 10 years since the final @killhannahofficial show at @metrochicago .I can’t believe a decade has gone by since the last New Heart for Christmas. I know I’m not the only one who gets nostalgic around the holidays. Sorry there was no Kill Hannah show this year or even a New Heart for Streaming special. Just didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up for a reunion anytime soon. We all miss you everyday and feel so grateful for all the amazing years you supported us and came to our shows. - @gregcorner
