THE Snow Cap pic 📸: Nikon FE : #kodak Gold 200 Welcome to my second collection of Vancouver on Gold! Once again featuring the one and only @evvv.be ! , I don't know what it is for certain, but having a human subject for landscape photography just works for me. Gives the eyes something to anchor on or it gives you a real sense of scale, especially when said landscape is a WILD mountain range! Now let us talk about that for a second. This range is accessible via a gondola, which is a wild ride up the side of the mountain after a wild ride down the incredible sea-to-summit highway. (WHAT a feat of engineering). This range just kept going and going, you could easily spend days wondering its summit, AND PEOPLE did! There were backcountry camping trails splintering off in every direction from the chateau in frame 4. Well, that's all there is to say about this! I am interrupting my greek travel series to bring you my first test frames from my new medium format camera. I wasn't sure if it would work or if I could pull focus without a split prism or get the exposure right without a light meter! BUT I DID IT, and man I did it well. For the uninitiated, these are 645 frames. The smallest of the 120 family of films. It's also the most economical and this stuff really adds up...after film-developing-scanning we're looking at about $2.50 per photo here. What do you get in return? Absolute nutty quality! 645 blows 35mm out of the water and ABSOLUTELY destroys anything that silly digital technology can offer. (that's unfactchecked btw) Anyways onto the actual content now. These photos come from my friend Prince Ali's birthday party. He's at LEAST 30 years old in some of these frames. THE Dirty Alley pic 📷: Nikon F3 : #kodak Portra 400 Last week we were in a nice alley with marble street tiles. This week we are in a grubby one that smells like FISH. (back by the harbour now). The face I’m making is what happens when I see a bunch of older Greek men swimming in the fishy part of the harbour, despite an amazing beach being a short walk away. @awksmclachs did an excellent job capturing that mood here. I got one of her here too BUT you'll have to visit my site (LINK IN BIO) to see it.... It wasn’t as good and didn’t meet the quality standards I've set for myself on this page. In this shot we've walked all the way out on the pier to try and sneak a peek around the peninsula here. We spent about 1/3rd of our time abroad in this region of Greece. And I hope it's obvious why! Despite being such a beautiful place, it was also one of the least touristy places we visited. THE eye watering pic 📷: Nikon F3 : #kodak Portra 400 Welcome back to Nafplio, once voted the most beautiful city in all of Greece. I can attest to this, it was! Not too big, not too small, tons of cool history, surrounded on all sides by the mountains of the Peloponnese, AND a beautiful crystal-clear harbour that wraps from one side to the other. MWAH! you could not ask for a more perfect set of parameters. This photo comes from about 1/4 of the way up the 1000's of stairs that lead to the Fortress of Palamidi. A large Venetian era castle that sits upon a cliff overlooking the city and harbour. We chose to walk up at golden hour and were treated to some truly magnificent sights. That also meant we only got 30 minutes to look around before they closed. So 40 euro well spent EHHH. More to come from Nafplio.
