I made this tidal skirt in pattern testing and have mainly used it as a swim coverup, but now I have a cute tee to wear with it! This is the @greenstyle_patterns Tiny Tee, and you can show off all the cute strappy back bras with it! This is the wider open back option made out of a thicker athletic fabric. Popping in with my first #MeMadeMay. I haven’t been sewing much lately and my lair is a disaster, so my goal is to get it cleaned up. I also have one UFO (unfinished onject) I need to finish sewing.

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a polo in my closet, but I love the sporty look of the zipper option on the Birdie Top (and Dress) from Greenstyle Patterns. And bonus, the pattern is on sale this month.
Fun fact: once upon a time, I was a big golfer. I played varsity all throughout high school, and was even supposed to play in college before hurting my back. I have the weirdest, shortest backswing ever 😆 (all my golf teammates can attest to this), but I can hit that little dimpled ball long and straight and accurately.
So… when I saw the Birdie top and dress pattern by Greenstyle, I loved that it had a traditional polo collar and placket option (because that just SCREAMS golf attire, right?), but what I was really drawn to was the unique, sleek stand up collar and zippered front. And that’s what I chose to make.
However… because I can never do anything the easy way ever (since I’m a glutton for punishment or something? 🤪), instead of using a regular zipper, I forced myself to use something from my stash, which in this case was an invisible zipper. Take it from me: save yourself some headaches and just use the regular zip, haha.
But… if you wanna be a little extra, the invisible zip is possible to make work. I ended up adding a reverse pleat to the bottom of the zipper to account for the extra fabric that was left over, and then stitched three bar tacks over it, to make it look like an intentional feature. It was a bit of a pain to get to this point (I’m now an absolute pro at seam ripping zippers, which is totally my fault, not the pattern’s), but I kinda love the final look. What do you think? Do you go rogue with patterns too?
Other details: This tank version has banded armscyes, and I graded out at the hips to accommodate my curves. Honestly, I’d love to make this top as a dress (also included in the pattern!).
