@greenboxkitchen and many other black owned businesses in Wilmington, Delaware like @jetphynxfilms @10kvintagecloset @carrymyownweight @milkandhoney302 @eaturbanfork @bridgeartgallery @oath_84 and @sidebarcafede had the honor of being recognized by the City of Wilmington at City Council as Spotlight Black-Owned Small Businesses during Black History Month — and we don’t take moments like this lightly. What many people don’t realize is that nearly 2 out of every 5 Black-owned small businesses don’t make it past year one, and historically, data has shown that close to 80% don’t make it beyond year three. So the fact that Green Box Kitchen has been able to serve this community for 6 1/2 years is more than a milestone — it’s a testimony. Every single morning we wake up and make a choice. Not the easy choice. The difficult choice. The choice to show up, push forward, solve problems, and continue building something meaningful for our community. We are truly grateful for every customer, every conversation, every bowl, smoothie, and menu item that allows us the opportunity to keep our doors open and continue serving with purpose.
