It may seem like a slow start to 2026, but Green Ware Studio has been hard at work:
āļøJan and Feb we hosted surface design workshops at @greenhousecooppgh
šļøMarch I completed a few custom orders and replenished my stock at @grantavenuecollective and @dancinggnome
šæApril was the Crop Swap at @velumfermentation
Which brings us to spring activities!
šŗMay 9 is the Mother of All Pottery Sales @unionproject . Seriously not to be missedāso many amazing artists under one roof!
š»May 30 will be my first time with @burghcrafted this year. @strangerootsbeer always has a solid selection so happy to enjoy some great drinks and vibes up in New Ken
š»May 31 I am back at @armfulofflowers for their first big event of the season. Cannot say enough about this group and the community theyāve built. So stoked to be back this year
šæļøJune 27 is the Squirrel Hill Night Market with @imadeitmarket . This is super close to my Greenfield neighborhood, so I make a point to go every year but this is my first time vending. Iām sure itāll be a blast!
There may be some other surprises popping up, so keep your eye out and if you miss a market but want some fun fired mud, Iām only a DM away!
Hey there! Iām Kelsey, the potter behind Green Ware Studio. Iām slinging mud in the Greenfield neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA. Iāve had a life-long obsession with creating, and I boomeranged back to ceramics about 2 and a half years ago. My focus is functional piecesāwhich is official-speak for making art that brightens daily living. For me this means mugs, planters, dishes, and things to hold other things.
My formal education is in science and teaching. I combine those during my day job. Pottery gives me the opportunity continue learning and work more with materials than ideas. Just like science, pottery challenges you through a process of trial and error. The more answers you get the more inspired you are to ask more questions. My vision with Green Ware Studio is to continue to evolve my practice while sharing the process for whoever is along for the ride. Thanks for being here!
Thanks to @phatbagels and @yinzcoffee for the fuel to get back in the studio to restock after an amazing MOAPS at @unionproject .
I had enough time to do a restock at @dancinggnome (and grab a 4 pack) before heading over to the Allegheny River trail with the pups.
After dinner, I spent a few hours trimming bottoms and organizing for the next firing. The next market is only a few weeks away!
WOW. Thank you all for an amazing MOAPS. To each person that browsed my pottery, for each sale, to each artist that was willing to trade both pieces and knowledge, and to all the folks from the @unionproject that truly made the event run smoothly, thank you a million times over.
I am so unbelievably grateful, inspired, and stoked for the rest of the season. I have been shopping MOAPS the last 5 years. I knew it would be amazing. I knew I would be surrounded by truly impressive artists. But I wasnāt sure how I would measure up and, transparently, I was more nervous about this show than any other. Iāve done quite a few markets , but never one where the spotlight was only on ceramics. So thank you all for making space in your lives for my art and I am honored to be in your collections.
But also yāall cleared me out so I was back in the studio Sunday restocking for @burghcrafted at @strangerootsnewkensington and @armfulofflowers Spring Fling at the end of this month. I plan to come stocked up with more cold brew cups, soap dispenser, and maybe another surprise or two.
Oh, two posts in one week?! Who is she?! She is a manic potter trying to get ready for MOAPS at @unionproject .
11-4 for general admission. You should be there.
A new bombshell has entered the villaācheck out this new design with that saturated teal. Iāll have a super limited amount of these at MOAPS this Saturday at the @unionproject
Iāll be among some amazing potters, so you know itāll be a good time. Snag an early bird ticket to come in at 10 before the crowds or general admission is 11-4.
For todayās Tool Tuesday Takeover with @burghcrafted , Iām highlighting my carving hack using diamond drill bits in a graphite pencil. I love the quality of my diamond core carving tool but this hack is an accessible option I saw from another potter. Itās allowed me to try different types of bits before investing in a higher quality tool and I think you get pretty comparable results.
The graphite pencil I was able to find online as a set of 3 for about $13 and the diamond drill bits are $7 at Harbor Freight. I wrap electrical tape around the base of the bit so it fits in the graphite pencil holder.
This Sunday was our very first ceramic-type workshop and, yāall, it was a dream.
Thank you to @greenhousecooppgh for being amazing hosts. The vibes are always immaculate and it makes me forever proud to say Greenfield is my neighborhood.
Thanks to my amazing #1 elite employee and love @vdubmeg for keeping me on track and stepping in to help co teach. Sheās picked up way more pottery skills than she gives herself credit for.
And a HUGE thank you for all the friends who showed upānew and old. Every single person signing up for my class means the world. It felt like such a huge risk to put myself out here like this so thanks for catching me. And thanks for sharing your art. All of you are legends.
We have another class coming up on 2/15. Same time. Same place. Be there! Link in bio with more deets.
Super exited for the workshops at @greenhousecooppgh on January 18th and February 15th. Both Sundays. Both 4-7p. The January one is full but still space for the February one. Link in bio for that sign up! Come play with some mud and sip on cider.
