Last night was brilliant! Loved every second and still buzzing 💥
Thanks to Andrew Holloway for photos and video of me on stage with @frankandwalters@graystonunity
I am 15 year old Sarah in my head when dancing to many of these songs and she would not be able to comprehend that sentence 🙃
I had such a great time catching up with Paul and Rory. Then, three songs in they invited me on stage to do the Cillian Murphy talky bit in 'Stages'. I froze once and went a little fast but enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun just having a little dance bounce waiting for my bit and deep breaths. Then, a bit of a stage bounce once my bit was done and I could enjoy the end of the song.
I performed 5 minutes of poetry at the beginning of the second half. For anyone interested my set was:
A bit like falling in love
The first section of Tangled up in 90s indie (as the first band mentioned in my book are the Franks)
Trainspotters (which is going in my next book)
It was brilliant to be able to perform the Trainspotters poem to Paul and Rory and to the people who will really get it the most, Franks fans, though a lot of it is universal comment on being an outsider, finding connection and dancing.
Trainspotters poem is below:
Trainspotters
In a city I don't know well
the streets November dark
and every pub is bouncing
when I want a quiet space.
It is only five
and feels like this should be possible.
I walk down cobbles
to the Old Town
hoping to find a haven
instead a group of men
in their twenties smirk.
One tells me
'I like trains too!'
and for a second
I light up
forgetting
I am not in the place I was a week ago
in a Butlins bubble
of 90s music security.

Next week we start our UK spring / summer tour! 21 dates - we can’t wait! After having spent the last few months doing the play, we’re proper eager to get out on the road and make some noise. And this time we bring with us a brand new instrument - a super lush electric piano, bringing some of our piano-driven melodic songs right to the front. We’ve also written a couple of heavy new tunes which we’ll be playing live for the very first time on the Fender Rhodes . A mix of heavy dirty keys and psychedelic pop.
Can’t wait to see ya’s!

Tomorrow evening I play a charity fundraiser event at @sevenartsleeds raising money for @wheatfieldshospice - it’s a Bob Dylan theme night with all acts taking on a selection of songs from The Freewheelin’ and The Times They Are A-Changin’ - both the albums where Bob Dylan was being too cool to be bothered with the letter ‘g’ on the end of words and probably significant for reasons other than that.
@marshalltea has been drafted in last minute but there’s also @waihuka.music and @joseph.hoare , @stansmithmusic , @davidwbroad and others. I’ve been playing ‘Girl from the North Country’ out since I was booked and have enjoyed it so much it’s made it in the set. There’s a full version as part of my set on YouTube for @thethursdayclub.kboro which for some reason I couldn’t save or share so here is a little snippet from @graystonunity which was the first time I played it out, and probably the best one too! I’ll see if I can top it tomorrow I suppose and I suspect I might carry on playing it after the Bob Dylan night is all over, baby blue. @settle.stories might get a Dylan cover I reckon…. Tickets in bio on Linktree!!
